Hi Janie225,
There are 14 pounds in a stone, and I agree with the Steve, that realistically aiming for 1 to 2 pounds per week is healthier.
Have you seen the NHS 12 week plan? Here is link if you want to have a look:

Also, I would recommend looking at the 'Welcome Newbie' pack which is a Pinned Post by Moreless (see top right-hand-side of homepage for all the Pinned posts).
If you would like to join us for a Monday group weigh-in, then click on the thread in the 'Events' section (below the Pinned posts), and you can have a read through last Monday's thread to see if you might like to join us for a future Monday weigh-in. You'd be very welcome.

I lose between 1lb and a kilo a week. This is not a stone a month. A pound a week is what I was encouraged to aim for. Anything extra is a bonus.
You only need to lose a stone a month if you have a huge amount to lose and its threatening your health. I am 5 foot tall, and weighed 15 stone 4lb on monday I have 7 stone to lose but will be happy with 3 stone. I have been getting ready to start a kick start weight lose to get down to a size I can do more exercise. Its not something you would even try if you are moderately overweight. You need to be morbidly obese and unable to exercise to attempt this and have your doc and alot of knowledge about how your body metabolises fat behind you
Very few people will lose a stone in a month. That's almost 3.5lbs a week. People who might do it include large women, most men and those who never cheat and train heavily every second day. But this might be you! So best of luck with your plans. But remember every half lb lost is a step in the right direction.
