Not sure at this early stage if I could do without food for a whole day voluntarily (lol) but the low carb high fat I could manage. I will certainly explore that as I think I am already eating that way ...just need to watch my portions
There's no need to aim for that. It may well come in time as you adjust your diet but it may not. I think that getting a real sense of hunger and fullness is the key, then you won't need to watch portions, it will come naturally, as will the pacing of your meals.
