I would like to say hi. I would so like to lose around 3 stone, it just feels such a long way to make this dream a reality! But have already started my journey..... nearly got my one stone goal. I have started using a pedometer to help track activity levels. My goal is 10,000 steps a day. My problem is that I find little time to prepare really yummy healthy dinners.

I have a weakness of fast food. .... and cheese. But my husband told me that cheese literally contains cheese mites!! His vegan work colleague was telling him!!

Hi, welcome. I love food so much but in order to lose weight I have taught myself that not every meal needs to be yummy. It is fine if most meals are just ok. This means I am not trying to add sugar, salt or richness from cream or butter. Most people on here don't agree with me though and calorie count and do allow themselves bits of tasty stuff but that didn't work for me. It just shows everyone is different and I respect people's right to choose and be different. Today st my mums house I tried to give myself a little bit of cheese. Because I then got the taste for it I couldn't get the taste out of my mouth -- it made me want more. I came home thinking it is good I don't have any cheese at home as I can't be trusted with it. Good luck

I really agree with this. Food is fuel, after all - you eat because you'll die if you don't - and it's only as the years have passed and given us more and more choice that we've gotten into the mindset that every thing we put in our mouths has to be delicious or it's somehow not worth eating at all. If you can persuade yourself that you're eating to live, and only occasionally think about creating something quite delicious as a real treat, you might find your relationship with food changing for the better.

Believe you can do,it then help yourself to do it. Eating good food is the most important thing I think. Use fresh ingredients and avoid convenience foods.

You will find lots of helpful advice and comments on the forum. People are very generous with their time and relating their own personal experiences. No doubt others can learn things from you too. A positive, can do, attitude is worth its weight in gold and is needed most when things are not going as you would want them to.

Good luck and enjoy your journey.

I totally agree to eat good fresh food. I blame my habit/ additicion to processed food for my weight gain

I am not sure how to break out of the cycle. I suppose it is a learning curve

I blame mine on pressure from work. Working ridiculous hours and no time to cook properly. I have decided-no more, my health is too import. When I go back in a couple of weeks I will be asking what are they going to do to make sure I can manage the workload in the time I am contracted, and therefore paid for. Loyalty can go too far and I have had my health scare., no more.

Hey thanks Ceals, for the friendly hello. I appreciate it. I wish you well with your weight loss story too.

Ohhhhh I cheese too, but try to stay away from it as much as possible! I lost about 8lb after having my kids four years ago and kept the weight off. Just started to eat healthily and up my exercise to lose the last 10lb I want to lose before my big BD! I echoe everyone else. Avoid continence food and stick to fresh produce as much as possible.

I make soups etc ahead of time when I have time. Tasty and healthy food doesn't have to take time to make. One of my favorite meals is grilled prawn salad and it takes no time to make at all. I think my problem is a portion control and eating kids left overs a lot of the times....! I see my kids leaving things on their plate and aghhhh into my belly!!

In my mind, two simple things which help overhaul a lot of people's eating habits when trying to shed some pounds are;

- Cutting out booze (altogether or cut right back)

- Planning meals ahead and not keeping unhealthy food in the house so you won't be tempted.

We can do this!

:)

It is hard I find I have to plan the whole week otherwise it all goes horribly wrong! I pretty much only use the hairy dieters these days as the food is so yum but low calorie. I have managed to find a plan that works by being realistic and on my really busy days planning for an omelette or jacket potato rather than cooking

Well done for losing nearly a stone. I am in the same position and have two and a half to go. If you have a bad day remind yourself of how well you have done and that you can do it. I make batches of healthy low calorie soups or meals so that I don't have to cook every day. I bake several potatoes at once and use a variety of toppings, tuna, cottage cheese, baked beans etc. A slice of wholesale bread with beans and one poached egg is another quickie. Remember to eat enough and include healthy carbs and fats. People who achieve slow and steady weight loss are more likely to keep the weight off. Losing is half the battle but keeping it off means a permanent change in eating habits. That doesn't mean a,lifetime of deprivation but choosing a healthier lifestyle. The key is to Eat Less/Move More. So good luck. You can do it! Daisy
