Welcome jou2fan to this forum. Been to two different well known slimming clubs in the past...lost a bit of weight but put it all back on . I found the “diets” were not real everyday life. Was making different meals for my husband and daughter so it became a chore. Using the NHS 12 week plan as a base this is now a way of life, a healthy eating way of life which is sustainable for ever. I started Nov 2017 with no goals in mind just counting calories , weighing the correct portions ,writing everything down and I still do all those things but they have become my normal way of living. My husband eats the same food just a bit more of everything, we go away on holiday and stay in various hotels and I continue to eat the same or similar foods there too. Now am 4st 6 lbs lighter , still a way to go. I know that if I need the support and encouragement from like minded people who have all been there , worn and washed the tee shirt several times I get it from this forum. I joined a weigh in day about 7 months after actually starting on my weight loss journey but have got to know a lot of people on here. You will and can do it if you want to. As IndigoBlue61 writes this forum is better than a slimming club...no weekly cost, no meeting to attend , no questions asked if you put weight on and no humiliation. The support from admin and members is excellent , someone has always got an answer or a suggestion so give it a go. Don’t set yourself too big a target to start with and treat yourself when you reach say that first 7 pounds off..new clothes or similar. Good luck on your journey. Sue 😀😀😀

Good points Familytree67 that confirm how it's perfectly possible to manage healthier eating longterm, without conflicting with social life, holidays, husbands etc.

Hi, you can do this!! The NHS12 week plan is a great way to start, it will help you make new habits and food choices that will help both you and your family. Most importantly it is NOT just a quick fix "slimming diet" it's a slow, steady way of life to improve your weight and your health longer term.

AND IT WORKS! All the best 😊

Hi I’ve been to every slimming club going but found this site so much more encouraging and helpful you can do it if you been to slimming clubs you know the basics of what to eat and what not! Keep going come on here everyday it’s great 😀

Think the word slimming is a real put off . Look at those that shed the pounds and keep them off . They aren't slimming but just watching what and how much they eat . The method is so simple . Plan your meals and shop for what is on your plan . If it's not in the cupboard- you can't eat it . Have the odd treat and night out then back to your sensible eating the next day . Diets are controlled and punishing . Tailor to what you find pleasant to eat . I wouldn't snack either but make 3 decent tasty meals . This does work as I have lost 19kg with little effort in 13 months and am keeping it off .
