Hi guys I had a conversation with my fitness coach today when I told him I wasn't losing weight he actually told me that when people say they would want to lose weight they mean lose fat and he told me the distinction between fat and muscle and it's weighted. He was observing my workout and he said I needed to change things if it's stagnanted I need to change for example increase the resistance on machines
He ask me if I was smaller have I measured for example my circumference of my tummy this is a better prognostic measure as for example if you want to avoid diabetes around fat around the belly and pancreas.
Is my coach right should I ditch the BMI and start measuring myself ? think I'm heavier on the scale I know that my clothes are still tight but I don't know is he right ?
He said for example two 500ml were bottles on the table one filled with sand the other with water inevitably the sand bottle would be heavier yet would be the same volume.
I should see my muscle to fat ratio change the other tip I have is to keep all the wrappers of things that you eat for that day and add them up.
Welcome someone else's view on this

Yes, if you increae the resistance you'll build muscle wbich will store more glycogen so that there will be less for the liver to turn into fat. The ratio which you need to aim for is that your waist measures less than half your height.
Idealy you should have no wrappers at all, eat real food like you get from the butchers, fishmongers or greengrocers not 'food' that you get from a convenience store of a snack machine.
EryI think you're right you raise some interesting points and I think that without proper scientific theoretical knowledge I think that consolidating all I know now into a proper plan is what we need to go .I want to pluck up the courage to have a proper assessment fitness assessment and score of my health physical health and yes the dreaded fat calipers.
I know that I need to step up on my workout doing the same workout won't give me any results and I've been doing this workout the same way for a long time now more than a year so it resistance is going up from one to five.
My coach is mentality is that of a serious athlete. He used to be a power lifter, he also did it one point have a weight problem that left over from such a high diet of proteins so I actually think that I in good hands and the kind of coach that's been rehabilitated and I think the science that we both agree on is helpful.
With me I'm quite nervous about the assessment but I do want my physical health parameters to be good and then at the end of the day those are the parameters are going to keep me living long healthy life guys what do you think.
My coach said I have to change my mindset to complete lifestyle change, is he right am I going to get my weight maintain my weight without doing the whole fitness without doing my whole life changing?
Another point is that your waist measurement is not what puts you at risk of diabetes but is just a sign that your diet is wrong and correcting your diet is what will reduce your risk of diabetes. (it will also reduce your waist size).
Yes muscle weighs more than fat, but unless you are a body builder it won,t make that much difference. Sometimes your clothes feel bigger if you have built some muscle, but the fat is still there
Unless your scales show body composition (fat %), I would ditch them and use a measuring tape instead. Muscle weighs heavier than fat, so you could be leaner/healthier but not necessarily see the number on the scales go down. Or conversly, you could drop weight but not reduce your body fat percentage.Best of luck moving forwards! 😊
