Hi, I've always walked a lot and done yoga for the last few years. At the moment, I can't walk a lot (Plantar Fasciitis), my yoga class has closed & I'm struggling to find another one & I have a couple of prolapses which mean I can't do anything which uses my abs. Any ideas?

Hi Kathyvf and Welcome!
Have you tried searching for chair based exercises? That would at least get you moving, if not on your feet!
Good luck!
Hi and welcome, Kathy
Fortunately it isn't absolutely necessary to exercise to lose weight, if that is your aim?
Plantar Fasciitis responds well to stretching exercises. Have a look at this

How about swimming and cycling?

Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Can't swim (but have started aqua) & can't cycle. Had a bike as a teenager but the shed caught fire. Bought a brand new, custom made in my 20s - stolen, bought a rubbish 2nd hand one in my 30s - stolen. Decided the universe had plans for me that didn't involve bikes! 😊Husband has just got an exercise bike to help with recovery from hip replacement. He has quite bad neuropathy in his legs so can't walk much. I shall steal it from time to time. Too scared to begin to learn road cycling in my 60s.
Hi Kathyvf you have my sympathies! I struggled with plantar fasciitis for two years. I tried all the recommended stretching etc, to no avail. Eventually two things happened to help. The first was that my doctor referred my to Guys Hospital for shock wave therapy. I went up once a week for three weeks for the treatment. It was painful at the time and for a while after but gradually started to improve my pain over the next few months.
The second was that I discovered Fit-Flop shoes. They come in all different styles and the soles are specially made to support your feet in the right places and to take pressure off the area which hurts in plantar fasciitis. They can be expensive, but I now have fewer pairs of shoes, but I can walk in all of them comfortably.
I've found a Pilates instructor who gives me alternatives if I feel my prolapses moving. Also Aqua. Still hardly any core strength though.
