enjoying exercise

So yesterday I went to my very first spinning class. I finally signed up for a gym membership having plucked up enough motivation and courage to know for sure that I will pay for something that I would use and enjoy.

The class was invigorating, exhausting and so much fun! It hurt like hell ofcourse, but absolutely worth it! I have been working out only once a week for the past year doing a body combat / circuits / mats for 1.5 hours. Now I hope to increase it to 3 workouts a week (fingers crossed!)

I hope to go again on Thursday for another session of either yoga or legs, bums and tums. Lost 1 kg in the last 2 weeks. Definitely need to work on my diet, as this slow weightloss, and the plateau I have reached doesn't help motivation levels stay up.

Wish me luck :)

haha that's fine, I followed her. It's nice to be motivated by others who have had a head start.

Spinning is a great form of exercise, you can burn a load of calories in one session - and it strengthens your cardiovascular system, your legs, bum, arms, core, well everything really.

Have fun and good luck with your extra classes, the weight will start to come off much quicker, I am sure :) :)

Although spinning classes are incredibly challenging (they're supposed to be), through regular attendance, you'll find that the body quickly adapts. Since they're designed to exercise the body's anaerobic energy zone at regular intervals (think HIIT), you'll soon over-come your plateau, since calories will continue to be burned afterwards, as the body works to re-pay its oxygen debt (research EPOC).

If you felt an over-whelming sense of nausea and light-headedness, coupled with extreme fatigue after your first spinning session, you can rest assured that the body's anaerobic zone will have been tested.

Simply continue to exercise within your capability, increasing the tension on the fly-wheel appropriately as fitness improves.
