Hi everyone. Just found this site today whilst looking for help on how to lose weight. I am quite obese, 5"10 and I wear size 22 clothes. I have been trying to lose weight for years but nothing seems to work. I keep putting it off and then when I do start, I quit within a week. I just need the motivation to get me started and the motivation to keep it up.
I had a knee replacement 18 months ago and it did not heal properly as I am left with agonizing pain. I still work for a living but I know that I need to lose this weight to help manage the pain.
I love swimming, but it is so expensive to keep up. The "free swim" is usually during work hours so no luck there.
I look forward to going on this journey with everyone else.
Thanks for listening.

Welcome to the forum. I am losing weight for my wedding despite the fact my fiancé and I haven't set a date yet. I am following Slimming World but weighing in at my mum's house because I am saving for my wedding and I am in the process of moving. I have lost 5 1/2 lbs in the last 4 weeks. I like this forum and appreciate the support that I get from other members as well as family and friends.
Hi toymos1,
I joined this site tonight and just read ur post and so I'm feeling so positive already. I'm just going to set my first goal which is to drop a dress size
Are you eating enough calories every day though to lose weight. When I first joined I had never lost any weight on any diets that I had done and wasn't losing any on here either. When I mentioned it on here someone said to me if you are not eating enough then you won't be losing any weight check on the bmi calculator for your personal amount of calories you should have to be able to lose weight, because if you don't eat enough your body thinks you are starving it and turns what you do eat into body fat which weighs more than the extra calories would so you won't lose any weight. I decided to eat more to the right amount of calories and started losing weight straight away. I have now lost 2 stone. Make sure you don't make this same mistake. Good luck on your journey!
Thank you HubbysMissMouse for your advice. Yeah, I read that the daily calories allowed for women is 1500. I am just trying to make sure that my calories are not empty calories.
Great !!! Your whole family will benefit from your Healthy New lifestyle. I don't like the word diet.....they just don't work. Enjoy your fruit..a wonderful gift from nature. Xx
