Hi just thought i would say Hi to everyone, I am here to try and keep the motivation going to lose about 4 stone! Been a rough few years with one thing or another, but my head is in the right place now to tackle this excess weight and get back to being healthy and slimmer! I manage to stick to my calorie allowance for a few weeks and then seem to fall off the wagon and undo my hard work! Hoping that by joining you all then it will give me the accountability and motivation to keep going. Currently using MFP to log all my food and exercise, I have lost 5lb so far but a long long way to go to get back to a healthy weight. Starting a new job on Monday which I think will help as won't be sat at home all day bored and mindlessly eating.

Hello Hidden and welcome to the forum, you’ve made a wonderful decision to join this friendly forum.

A couple of points, please don’t be tempted to eat too little, MFP can be a little low, double check on the MHS BMI checker which will suggest a target range. The best way to lose weight is the way you intend to maintain, so eating a little more makes it far more sustainable. What you eat is also important, including some good healthy fat, which is an essential nutrient and will not make you fat. See here for more information about why not all calories are equal healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

If you haven’t already then please read the Welcome Message in Pinned Posts here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... Please read it carefully so you can find all the information you need to find your way around the forum.

As a peer to peer support group we rely totally upon mutual encouragement. Nothing beats joining in, reading posts and replying to others. Our Group Weigh-in and the Daily Diary are probably the best places to start

If you haven't already taken it, here's a tour of the forum

Best wishes

in reply to Cinderella63

Ah I dont really have any secret tips or ideas, just the usual of try to cut down portion sizes, drink water and aim for a bit more exercise than you currently do. You can do this, just take it one day at a time, keep track of what you eat/drink.

You can do this! Everyone here is so suppoetive and even if it’s a pound lost..it’s still a loss so well done on losing 5lbs. 😊

Welcome. As others have said don't try to lose it too quickly - it will probably make you ill. I have recently lost 20kg in 9 months and this seems fine for me. I have more to go yet but each step is best taken carefully.

Congratulations on losing 5lb and good luck with the new job. I know what you mean about work being a distraction from eating. I’m on holiday and eating way too much. Back on it soon though!
