I am a 67 year old wife, mother of 3 and grandmother of 6. I am about 4.5 stone overweight and am now having difficulty with general fitness. I am still working 15 hours a week at a local health centre. If I get down on the floor I can't get up without something to pull myself up on. I occasional go to an aqua class and keep making appointments at the gym and cancelling at the last minute, I have an appointment on Tuesday and I need to go this time!

Great that you do the occasional Aqua class, but sorry to hear you haven't made it to the gym yet, despite wanting to go. Good luck with making it on Tuesday. Let us know how you get on. I hope you'll enjoy it.
Our Monday group weigh-in is really supportive too, so do join us for that, if you'd like to. See the Events section for details.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Hi Lundy67
Welcome to the forum, I hope you'll like it here and it helps you to lose weight, get fit and healthy!
This may have been suggested already but have you tried swimming? I love this sport, it takes my weight, is easy on my joints and I have loads of fun so it doesn't seem like I'm exercising.
All the best for you and good luck!

Hi I used to work in a Gym complex and never used the facilities now Im kicking myself as I have to pay now . Start slowly and build. Do they have a fitness class for your age group , I have been doing one and we are all over 60 and have ailments , but its good fun and do able
Hello Lundy67 , I agree with Hidden that swimming would be a good start. You could just do a few lengths to begin with, maybe before or after an aqua class. The best thing to do for your health though is to lose weight, exercise is only a fairly small part of that, more important is what you eat and drink and plenty of info on this site to help you, calorie allowances, recipes, lots of friendly support too. Good luck!

Hi and welcome Lundy
I know exactly what you mean about not being able to get up off the floor, because I used to be the same. I found walking and an exercise bike really helped me to rebuild my fitness levels. Take it nice and easy to start with and gradually increase distance and intensity. You'll be amazed how quickly you improve
