Good luck on loosing weight I'm sure you will do,it if you stick to the calories
Xx
Good Morning,
Good for you in taking the first step. Convincing yourself that enough is enough provides you with that initial determination and motivation to get started. I joined here in May and got started properly at the beginning of June. So far I've lost 32 pounds. I'm not happy with me just yet but I'm not quite as tough on myself because I know that at the moment I'm addressing my food addiction and in turn that is seeing positive results on the scales. I didn't get super fat overnight so it's going to take time to shift the 16 stone I have to lose. Be strict with yourself, use the BMI calculator to check your daily calorie goal and count everything that you eat or drink. It's tough getting started but it does get easier and you don't need to deprive yourself of the things you like, just count them into your calorie allowance for the day.
We are all in the same boat here and that makes for a truly inspirational and motivational community. I wish you every success with your weight loss.
Kenny
Welcome back KarateMadMum,
Remember to think positive thoughts! Look at what you like about yourself - nice skin, hair, nails etc and learn to love yourself again. Then it makes sense to treat that beautiful person with a bit of kindness, to feed it on healthy foods, and not like a dustbin.....say "I am so worth it"! Next time you are about to tuck into a biscuit, cake or sugary drink, say NO and look for the fruit tea, a nibble of dried fruit, a mug of soup, a low fat yogurt and away you go! (This is what I keep telling myself.....)
Good luck I am trying to do it gradually over time and it seems to be working. I was worried as I have led quite an unhealthy life style for quite a few years. I am 62 and sport in my early life has left me with a knee problem.I have managed to lose a stone and ten pound since June I need to lose another ten pounds. Try and keep it a fun challenge I feel much healthier now and have a lot more energy.
Hi KarateMadMum and welcome back! have a good read and a good write. what I mean is start writing down everything you eat and look back and see where you can cut back. the 12 week NHS works! don't hate yourself. the first thing you need to do is forgive yourself for your weight. it is not all our fault, we are not weak and we did not fail ourselves. I think it is a disease we have just like being addicted to drugs or alcohol but unfortuneately we cannot stop eating all together. Once I decided I could live with myself just the way I was, I decided to get healthy and lose some weight. I have lost 16 then gained 4 now back on track. I got cocky.. silly me. when I write down what I eat I am amazed at what I can eat.. and try to get back to reality the next day. I recommend lots of veggies, some fruit, cut back on the carbs. walk and some exercise will make you feel so good about yourself. and when you lose the first few pounds, your confidence will soar! good luck to you and keep us informed!
