I used to be on here under the same username, but I've lost all my previous posts
I was around 15st7 when I was last on here, but I'm now 17st10. Fibromyalgia and exercise do not mix well, and working from home doesn't help. Time to sort myself out again - thanks to a hideous photo taken of me yesterday. I want to be 14st again, when I could fit into all my gothy clothes, my thighs didn't rub holes in my trousers, and my belly didn't get in the way of putting my shoes on. I'm the biggest I've ever been and it's horrible
I've been out a lot more since I started playing Pokemon Go, as it's nice to have a purpose in mind and something to make walking more interesting, and I've found myself taking the long way home. I already had my replacement Fitbit on order, which arrived today, and I've already gone over my 5,000 step goal while out hunting pokemon/helping my neighbour walk her dog (which hopefully will become a regular thing). Now the kids are back at school I can go swimming again twice a week like I used to. It's just finding that balance between exercising enough to lose weight and not breaking myself because of my Fibro.

Really sorry to hear you've lost all your previous posts, but I'd like to Welcome you back to the Weight Loss NHS forum. We have a Welcome Newbie post now, which is in the Pinned posts area, so do have a look at that, if you've not yet seen it, as it is full of helpful information about what's going on in the forum these days. Lots of Challenges in the Pinned posts area too - sounds like you're enjoying the Pokemon Go, and I hope your replacement Fitbit arrive soon as well. Great that you're achieving your step goals - really good.
Maybe join our Monday group weigh-in if you'd like to be part of that. The latest thread is in the Events section, and the next session will be posted on Monday by moreless - we are alternating the posting of the weigh-ins each week, between Moreless and myself, so if you want to find it, maybe follow us, or just look in the Events section for the latest one. An option to consider.
Good luck I don't know what works for you but exercise helps of course it does. Calories going in will have the biggest impact. I have just realised really reducing bread and potatoes do it for me. My brother has gone down in weight dramatically and he pointed it out. He said there are sufficient calories in vegetables for you r needs
Hello,
Is the photo you posted the one you say is "hideous"? If so, I'd just say that, while you obviously have a few pounds surplus, you most certainly do not look hideous! You don't even look 17st 10lbs. Also, you have an hour glass shape, something most women would kill for, and most will never get no matter how slim they are.
So please count that particular blessing.
A few thoughts re the weight loss: I'd worry less about the exercise - obviously keep on doing what you;re doing, but sorting out your food intake is far more important when it comes to losing weight. So make sure you;re keeping to proper portion sizes and not snacking, avoid alcohol, eat your 5 fruits and veg every day etc. All the usual stuff.
If you're starting at 17st 10lbs, you should find that even a modest cut down will get the weight shifting and you can adjust quantities further as you lose weight.
Also, I've been listening to the Paul McKenna "I can make you thin" CDs over the past couple of weeks (got them on special offer from the newspaper). I was rather sceptical about them, and thought it was all a bit whacky, but I have to say that they do seem to be working for me. I have been much more focused, have had hardly any cravings, and my weight has started to go down again after several weeks of sticking. It might be worth giving these a go to get your head in the right place to lose weight.....
I actually have the book and CD kicking around somewhere, so yeah it might be worth a shot, thanks
My diet is my downfall really - I live alone, cooking for one is kinda tricky, and I hate wasting food. I have painful hands from the fibro so can't always cook as much as I'd like and resort to frozen meals sometimes. I'm working on the portion sizes, though, and trying to roughly halve them from usual and bag them up separately. And like you say it's the cravings that are the hard part.
I think it's because I so rarely have full-body photos of me (at least, not since I was a LOT thinner) that it's made me sit up and take notice a bit. I do carry my weight well but the belly is too much. But thank you for the nice comments
Hey there, I was around the same weight as you when I started a month ago, but once you get going the weight does start to drop, I am now just over 17 stone and looking forward to being 16 stone something within a few weeks! I have the same problems with the belly, and have to do all sorts of contortions to get socks on etc. I wish you well and look forward to seeing you around on the forum!
