20 kilos of baggage

Gawd knows what Ryan Air would charge me for carrying that. Anyway at 101 kilos it looks like I need to shed 20 so I started a new regime Saurday 14th May. I'm a 61 year old male, used to be fit, played squash and ran half marathons then (fumbles for poor excuses) family came along and then went into business for myself and the exercise slowed and stopped and the demi-kilos piled on! An irregular heartbeat means starting with brisker dog walks and some weights and see where that gets me. Cut down on the ale, bad carbs and portion size and I'm hoping to get in shape and lose at least 15 of the 20 kilos by early October when I have a family event to go to. When I hire the dinner suit I don't want to look like an emperor penguin. Kudos to all of you and your losses, hope to join your winning club soon!

Well, Saturday morning weigh in and in week 1 I've lost 3.4 kilos, 7 pounds which is hard to believe but then given how I used to eat maybe not such a big surprise. If I can lose 3, 2 and 2 pounds in the next 3 weeks that will be a stone. I figured last week there is a long list of things I didn't eat that I would normally such as white bread, butter, white potatos, crisps, smoothies, supermarket sarnies, pork pie (occasional!) double sausage and egg mcmuffin brekkie, not all in one week mind but in a month certainly. Onwards and downwards! :-)

Wow, well done you! Keep at it! I hope I'm as successful on my first week x

Lost 1 kilo exactly in week 2 which I'm happy with. I expect I've lost the sudden "loss" that happens in the first couple of weeks so now the extra hard work begins. I'm getting used to the concept of smaller portions, much less carbs, more veg, better exercise and hoping that gets me past the half way point and then it will be calorie counting which I'm struggling to get excited about but encouraged that so many of you on here do it so I will follow! :-)
