Hello RiaDali

You will get an official welcome soon but in the meantime have a look at the Newbies pinned post 😊

I would think to try to lose 20kilo in 2 months is quite ambitious, 2 1/2 kilo per week (5lbs) I doubt you put it on at that rate?

It is perhaps a better idea to follow a balanced generous eating plan like the NHS12 week plan as well as increase exercise to improve overall fitness. The programme I follow suggested 5% loss in body weight over 8 weeks 😊 I did this before my sons wedding last year and felt so much better 😊

Everyone loses weight at different rates, but one of the most common hurdles to long lasting weight loss is not eating enough in an attempt for rapid weight loss, and then getting over hungry and not sticking to plan. πŸ˜•

I hope you find a successful solution, good luck and very best wishes

Hello! Thank you for your response. You are right, maybe I am too ambitious with my goal. I am just tired looking at my reflection in the mirror and 20 kilos is the amount of weight i need to lose to achieve the right weight for my age and height. Bu I will keep doing all I can to lose as much weight as possible. Again, thank you!

Hi RiaDali,

Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS site, and I hope you'll enjoy being part of this community. I would recommend reading our Welcome Newbie post, which you will see in our Pinned posts area (top right-hand-side of the homepage).

The NHS 12 week plan is really good, and worth a look - you can find a link to it within the Welcome Newbie post.

Maybe join our Monday group weigh-in, if you want to be part of a larger weight-in group - but I realise that isn't everyone's cup of tea - but it is good fun and a supportive and friendly group.

Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Lowcal :-)

Not really but by the end of 12 weeks maybe 12 kilos and a further 6 kilos in the next 12 weeks woul be a tad more realistic but still ambitious. Losing 10 kilos a month is far too drastic, open to failure with all the negativity it brings and maybe bad for your health! Lose the weight slower and it is more likely to stay off. Good luckπŸ˜€

Download the 12 week plan that has been recommended. What has worked for me is drastically reducing the fats I ate and cutting out bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, fizzy drinks, fruit juice, and eating more fish and chicken rather than red meats. I eat 5 times as much veg as fruit to keep sugar consumption down and avoid most low fat dairy and eat a little full fat hummus, cottage cheese and I switched to almond milk. That plus regular daily exercise and I've lost 12 kg in 10 weeks. Take time out to read around all the info on this great site and join us on the weigh in and other forums. πŸ˜€

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. You inspire me. My problem is how i can cut my carb. I am a big carb eater. I love chicken but I cannot eat it as often as I want because I have allergic reaction to it as well as on with egg. I am trying to find a way to love vegetables than fruits. Im looking for simple recipes. THank you!

I just gave up all the carbs as I didn't think I would be able to halve them and current research suggests carbs not as good as protein (simplistic but that's me!) I eat ham, slice of reduced fat cheese, cottage cheese, hummus all with crispy and leafy veg. Sometimes a whole meal rice cake makes it onto the menu. I also soak a tablespoon of chia seeds overnight in coconut water and that's my mid afternoon "snack" that stops the hunger gremlins trashing my resolve - interesting texture, needs resolve! My hardest time was getting off my substantial posterior and starting the food and exercise change. Once I started I was fine and now I feel 100 times better about myself, my health, my body and much more confident? Every journey has to have a first step, good luck with yours πŸ˜€

Hi,

if you don't have any health issues (and please meet a gp before starting) you could try increasing the consumed carbs and calories instead of only reducing them... Physical activity is a great help in reducing weight. although please make sure you know how much is your intake (as it took me 3 years to realize that I was running probably over 30 miles per week and not loosing weight cause I was eating too much...)

This week I started watching my calories intake and running helps so much in getting rid of my extra kilos (and I have probably a few more than you to work on...).

PS. Having no time is not an excuse to avoid physical activity (but I have used it for 12 years until so I know how easy it is to reply to this message with it), but could be an issue, so I suggest to think at your typical day and try to fit 30 minutes of physical activity a day (walking from the bus to work or gardening counts): Think things like getting off the bus a couple of stops earlier or walk to the shops.

20kg in 2 months is unhealthy and you would have to cut your calories down to barely anything and exercise like mad. At the start I lost 6kg in a month and that has gone down to 4kg 9 months on.

I would make changes now, and take it as it comes. Good Luck :)
