Last Monday I weighed exactly 14 stone (which was a 'wake-up' call to me as I'd hoped not to see that number on the scales anymore), and so I am thrilled this week to see that I now weigh 13 stone 8.8 pounds and have therefore lost 5.2 pounds this week. I went back to using Myfitnesspal, and I tracked everything I had eaten and drunk, and I tried to keep within the calorie allocation.
I didn't manage to get to the gym at all last week, but I did go for a walk every day, and I also purchased an 8kg kettle bell, following Tootsiepop's inspiring post about how good a kettlebell is for weight training and cardio generally, and I am so pleased I did that, because it has been really great exercise. I have tried to do a 30 minute work-out per day (divided into three ten minute sections) and that has been really good. I didn't do any yesterday, to have a rest from weights, and I allowed myself a couple of treats food-wise over the weekend as well.
This week I am hoping to lose 2 pounds, because I recognise that the 5.2 pounds loss this week is due to having over-eaten so much over the previous month, and I would not expect a large loss like that again. Healthy weight loss is up to 2 pounds per week, and I want to ensure I stay healthy.
I appreciated everyone's encouragement last week when I hit 14 stone, and it has helped me a lot to get back on track. I am still feeling motivated this week, which is a good thing, and I hope that this week will also be a positive one. Good luck to you all with your goals, and hope you'll join me for this Monday weigh-in to share your experiences.

Congratulations Lowcal, that is amazing. Well done and such determination. Me, well, now finished week 12 and lost 4.5lbs this week. So after this incredible 12 week journey and losing weight every week, I have lost 2stone 10.75lbs, just 3 and a quarter pounds off 3 stone. I will still continue on this journey as need to lose a lot more, but feel so good already. Next weeks aim is to lose that 3.75lbs if I can. Congratulations to all the weight loss losers and to those who didn't make it this week, grit your teeth and go for it next!
Many congratulations on your successful weight loss over the 12 week plan. That's really great. You're feeling much better in yourself as well, which is brilliant.
Wow! candystripe! That is fabulous! Many congratulations to you! I am also finished with the 12 weeks but I am staying on here to keep myself in check. Have a great week!
There's no way that I'm going to stop Prin, I'm sort of addicted! I shall try it on again when I've lost another stone, cos I'm still too darn big! I will still be here every week and when it fits then it's a photo shoot!
Great news lowcal. I've managed to lose 2 pounds this week, taking my total to 1 stone 12 pounds. I am amazed at this as the phrase "I'm going to be slight over my calories today" has been heard too often this week in my house! That may explain the 2cm gain on my waist! I have printed off a load of the 12 week record sheets to keep track of my calories over the week as this was my first week without them and I found it too easy to think that it is only one day I'm a bit over using just my fitness pal, whereas seeing the whole week in front of you makes you realise that you have already been over once this week so should be more careful the rest of the week. I also did my first c25k run this morning so will see how the rest of this week goes!
Congratulations on your weight loss this week. You're getting very close to losing 2 stone now. Hope you enjoyed your first c25k run this morning. Hope you have a good week ahead.
& congratulations. Glad you're back in the losing game Lowcal, and Candystripe - what inspiration. I'm on week 4 now and have lost 2lb which means I've lost 8lbs all together. Still a llong way to go but posts like your really give me hope. Thanks so much.
So pleased you've lost 2 pounds this week, that's really great. Well done! Already you've lost just over half a stone, and you're in week 4. Great progress.
I found so much inspiration from this site that I was determined to succeed and in turn can now give my support to everyone else. It's that re-told story, if you want it badly enough and if I can do it then anyone can. I love feeling healthier in myself, not looking for the outsize shops to buy clothes, I love the remarks from friends and family and of course I know I look better too! Do what works for you and follow your dreams.
I weight 16 stone 9 and a half pound. I am extremely overweight.
Today I start my new eating plan. I know it doesn't suit everyone, but I am going to a weight watchers meeting this evening. I need the discipline of a weekly weigh in.
In ten weeks time, I am having major surgery, so I am going to loose weight before then.
I hope you don't mind me posting my progress on here?
A warm welcome to you, and I'm really pleased you've joined us to post your progress. I hope your Weight Watcher's meeting goes well tonight. I agree that the discipline of a weekly weigh-in is really beneficial. Helps to keep you motivated.
Hopefully you'll lose weight in good time for your surgery in 10 week's time. I am sure you can make good progress in that time.
Awesome news Really happy for you, I think sometimes you just need a bit of a shock to get back on track, and here you are. I also think allowing yourself treats is important, it stops the cravings for them if you have them in moderation.
Last week I weighed 16 st 3 lbs and this week I weigh 16 st 1lb, I'm very happy with my 2lb loss. I've got a fortnight off work so will be happy to maintain next week as much as I would like to loose another 2lbs so I can finally be out of the 16s. I have a few plans with family and friends but think that without the comfort of my routine I may slip into old habits. I also did a 9 mile walk yesterday and had to finish the last 2 miles on a dodgy hip and ended up spending all of yesterday afternoon/evening in bed as being horizontal was the only position where I wasn't in pain. So hopefully I'll see you all back next week and I can at least say that I haven't gained and I can hear about another successful week for you all
Brilliant that you've lost 2 pounds this week. Really great. Like you said, not long till you'll be out of the 16's. But sensible to set a goal to maintain over your holiday fortnight. It is always more challenging to be on holiday and in a different routine. But at least you are already aware of that, which should give you an advantage.
Sorry to hear you had pain in you hip after that long walk you did yesterday. Well done for achieving it, and really hope your pain goes away soon.
Have a lovely holiday and hope you have some enjoyable days with your family and friends. Look forward to catching up with you next week.
Congratulations to you on your 1 pound loss, that's really great. Great to hear you're getting close to your 1 stone mark - hopefully you'll be there next week. Best of luck and have a great week.
Glad to hear everyone has had a good week! And an extra well done to you Lowcal! That must have been a nice boost for you this morning after last week!
I was dreading the scales this morning... I had no go in me at all last week. After hitting 12st 6lbs, the lightest I've been in a long time, I thought it would give me the boost I needed for a good week.
Start of the week went great, stuck to my calories and did my exercise. By Thursday I just could not be bothered. I don't know what go into me. I didn't do my exercise and I was just in a stuff my face sort of mood!
I had a bad weekend too, I thought I might have felt bad after Thursday but it continued... I went to the cinema Saturday and had ice cream. I didn't do my exercise Sunday either and ended up staying out late and ordering a kebab, had a bag of malteasers and a caramel shortcake slice, plus 2 cans of energy drinks! I don't know what came over me...
I knew what the scales were going to tell me this morning. Luckily I have emerged not too bad only putting on 1lb. But I am feeling very sorry for myself this morning, I've let myself down. After feeling so good last week reaching my lowest weight I went off track.
Been there, done that...dont worry this week will be better! Sometimes our heads are not in the right place for reasons we cant understand...i have done that more times than I can count. At least you are not throwing in the towel! Have a fab week!

At least your week started off ok, and sorry to hear it ended in some over-eating, but it really does happen to most of us, and sometimes it just catches up with us and we are drawn to those less healthy foods. At least you've not suffered too great a gain in weight - 1 pound is nothing and will soon come off again.
As yoyo-nono says, sometimes our heads are not in the right place, and we can't always see the triggers. What's great is that you're here for the weigh-in, and hopefully you can get back on track this week, and see it as a fresh week with lots of potential.
Hope you have a good week ahead, and that today is going ok so far.
Thank you both for the encouraging words! I am more like myself today, back on track!
Its probably the guilt that's made me be a bit better today! So far so good with the calories and I am currently out walking the dog for my sins! And extra long walk today!
I very much need to lose that pound I've gained and get back to feeling as good as I did in the last weigh in!
Please don't beat yourself up! It happens to us all! If it was easy to lose weight and keep it off we wouldn't all be here so take the lesson on the chin and best foot forward for a great week ahead and another pound or so loss this time next week!
Ah, WiiFit - I keep meaning to get back in action with mine. I have a great fitness one and a Zumba one. Haven't got the "it's too hot" excuse any more!
Congratulations Lowcal!! Fantastic loss. I think I am going to get a Kettlebell too! I am happy today because I lost the weight I gained post 12 weeks celebration! I am on the right track. I lost 2 pounds last week. Also, I am happy to report my running is going well and I have surprised myself this morning when I ran a route I normally do in 30 minutes...but I had to continue further because my running has become faster too. Have another great week!
Congratulations on losing the weight you'd gained following your 12 weeks celebration. Great to hear you're back on the right track and that you lost 2 pounds last week. That's brilliant. Glad your running is going well, and sounds like you're really progressing well.
I spent too many hours watching the European Athletics last week (think takeaways on a tray with a glass of red every night). Absolutely delighted that GB &NI did so well and headed the medal table with all those Gold, Silver and Bronzes that they won but ...
Luckily I did not gain any more weight but I haven't lost any either - so I am still not back to where I was a fortnight ago. I will try to do better next week
Congratulations LowCal, you had a fantastic week and I shall use you as a reminder of what can happen when an effort is made. To all those who have had a successful week I send a big well done. To the others, like me, I send commiserations and the hope we can all do better next week.
Glad you enjoyed watching the European Athletics, and I am sure your takeaways with a glass of red were tasty! Great that you've not gained any weight, and managed to maintain through that. You'll get back to where you were a fortnight ago, and your resolve to do better next week will hopefully see you through. Wishing you a great week, and many thanks for your kind words.
Hi, just joined today and I would love to join your weekly weigh in. I need this commitment each week to keep myself on track. I have decided to follow the NHS 12 week plan.
A warm welcome to you! Thanks for joining us. Great that you're doing the 12 week NHS plan - it's a great structure, and people are very supportive and encouraging.
Well done on your weight loss this week. I have now done 3 weeks of the counting calories and after my disappointment last week of only 1/2lb I am pleased to say that this morning had lost 3.6lb making nearly 9lb overall. The only thing I am missing is bread, but will not give in. Hope to start some swimming soon with the disabled club and still getting the walks in.
Only 50lb to go to get back to what I was 4 years ago....
Brilliant to hear you've lost 3.6 pounds this week, that's great. Well done.
I also cut down on my bread intake last week, but I have been having jacket potato quite regularly instead. I do still enjoy the occasional piece of bread here and there though.
Great idea to start some swimming, that should be really good exercise and also quite a sociable thing to do. Hope you enjoy it.
I'm having technical problems today. Electronic scales said 1.2lb before I stood on them and showed a 3.8lb weight increase when I did (I screamed!) Consequently I don't believe them so I'm going to have to get husband to do his Mr FixIt magic on the and see if he can sort them out. Hopefully tomorrow morning I'll weigh in. I'm really hoping I haven't put on 3.8lb!
Sorry to hear you've had some technical problems today - I can imagine you would have screamed to see such a big weight gain when you weren't expecting it! Hope your husband can do his Mr Fix It magic to fix them, and will look forward to hearing your new weigh-in results tomorrow!
You're getting ever closer to the new category, and that's brilliant to hear. Hope you enjoyed exercising on the WiiFit - I know there are lots of good exercises you could do on there.
Well done you, and I can tell from your post that you're back in the zone! I weighed myself yesterday and have now broken into the next stone, so yesterday felt good. Total loss so far 17lbs. Feeling a bit less clever this morning. Went to bed feeling quite peckish, not bored or deprived but genuinely hungry. Didn't get off to sleep till too late so today I'll struggle as I always get up early. ANYWAY, going to make some veggie soup which uses my creative skills, and I enjoy the doing of it. I bagged up all my loose fitting jeans and trousers yesterday and am squeezing in to the next size down! Partly so I keep moving forward and partly to remind me I'm still fat! LOL! I will food shop today too so here's to the next week! Am toasting you with a cuppa! Have a good week too LowCal.
Congratulations on your weight loss, 17 pounds is incredible - well over your first stone and well on the way into the next one. That's brilliant.
Thanks for your encouraging words to me, I am definitely feeling so much better this week than I have done over the past few weeks - I think I had been losing my motivation, but I have found it again now, and it is thanks to this weekly weigh-in and the support from everyone that I have been able to keep on track and get back into it.
Great that you are making some veggie soup today - that will be really healthy and filling too. I really enjoy cooking too, and sometimes I make a big stock of soup to freeze in portions - it's so easy to access that way.
The fact you've bagged up your loose fitting clothes and you're getting into your new size is really good. Hopefully there will be less squeezing as you keep losing.
Enjoy your food shop and hope you make some great choices!
Well I know why you would say that!!! They're bagged and right in my way at the moment, so I get irritated by them and reminded how excess fat gets in my way too! Will be charity shopping them when they've served their purpose! LOL
hi I started on the 1st September I weighed a big 15st 11lbs and I got weighed this morning found id lost 2lbs not much but its better than putting it on
Congratulations on your weight loss. 2 pounds is really good. Hope you have another good week ahead. Gradually losing weight at 1 to 2 pounds per week is the healthy way to lose weight - more likely to be sustainable for the longer-term.
