Last Monday I weighed 13 stone 6.0 pounds, and today I weigh 13 stone 5.4 pounds, so I've lost 0.6 pounds this week. I am grateful it's a loss. I have been continuing with my walking, but I didn't get to the gym at all this week, so I was a bit worried that I might not have lost anything.
Hoping to lose again this coming week, and will try to do a bit more exercise as well as eating healthy foods.
Good luck to everyone with your weight loss, and hope you can join me for a Monday weigh-in.

Good morning Lowcal and everyone. I got into a panic because I thought I'd lost you all Weight last week 11 st 3 lb 6 oz. Weight this week 11 st 2lb 5 oz. Very pleased that it hasn't gone up. I have not been able to exercise at all this week as hurt my back last Monday and it was too painful.
Glad you found us! Congratulations on your weight loss - you've done really well. Sorry to hear you've hurt your back last Monday, and hope you recover very soon!
Morning losers, can I be in the club too? 10st 9.5 this morning so less than last week, exercise helps but is not the be all and end all, it's cutting those calories that count. I am out to lunch with friends, so have been spin cycling this morning to combat those extra calories, and I don't want to sabotage my good work from last week, enjoy the sunshine everyone and keep going with the weight loss!
Morning all, I am delighted to announce the results of my first weigh in. Last Monday was 11.2 and today 10.10. I havent worn my jeans this week but just put them on and they feel less tight.
Got to admit that the myfitnesspal app and knowing that I have the support here and that we are all trying is helpful in keeping me focused.xxx well done everyone.
Congratulations on your weight loss - that's really great. Good to know you're noticing the difference in the fit of your clothes as well. Sounds like you're doing well at keeping focused.
Hi elliebath, I got my bmi from NHS 12 week weight loss plan.(shocking!) It was recommended that I have 1200 calories per day. I realised that this wasn't many so I had to be smart with my choices. I saw on here people mentioning myfitnesspal app where you enter your daily calorie allowance (only need to put in once and it remembers) so mine shows 1200 available and say if I eat a banana and enter this (it will look up a banana or most other foods and gives you the amount of calories in It) it then deducts it from your allowance and gives the total left in calories. You have to be completely honest and log everything you eat otherwise you are only cheating yourself! I did not have a clue about calories in food other than cake and chocolate etc is high but the myfitnesspal app has been a god send. I have cut out my half a suger in my tea and not eaten any cake or chocolate. I have had bag of crisps with my cheese sandwich (grate my cheese and only sprinkle a bit on bread). Eating much more fruit I.e strawberries, cherries, apples. Although I would much rather have a bar of chocolate I also want a nice figure and be more healthy so an apple will do instead. I have also noticed that when I cook tea for my family, sometimes I don't have any as I am actually not Hungary (previously I would have had some simply because it was tea time!). I am really not finding this as tough as I thought I would. I do minimal exercise to be honest I.e walking dog. Just thinking about what I am going to eat and not shoving anything I want is helpful. I am 5.2 and weighed in at 11.2 (never been this heavy in my life! I was only 7.10 at two months pregnant although that was many moons ago, ha). What I am saying is that I have more or less been on the slim side most of my life and I wonder how on earth did I get to 11.2? Never mind, I'm doing something about it now and so can you. Good luck, you can do it.xxx
Very pleased you are doing well so far. I too am following a 1200 per day regime, since april. I needed to lose 22lbs and I've lost 9lbs up to last week, also with the help of myfitnesspal. I think most of us on here use it. Dont know how old you are but if you are anywhere near middle age Im afraid its so easy to gain weight without oveteating due to hormone and metabolism changes. You will find quite a few of us 'more mature' women on here are all battling with the same issue. Good luck to you, whatever fyour age it can be done!!!
I am 48 elliebath and I know what you mean about weight gain as you get older. My daughter is 25 now. I've still got 328 calories left and I'm stuffed. Having said that if someone put a bar of chocolate under my nose I probably would bite their hand off! Best I steer clear of it as I have no self control. I'm going to have a look at a gym tomorrow. My daughter 8 stone wants to get fit and her dad also no weight probs wants to do the weights. I fancy the zumba, well I can't be left out can I!x well done you have still lost so you are definitely a loser ha.x
Beware of going lower than 1200, youre likely to 'stick',have a read through some of the more expert opinions on here, going lower wont kerp it off apparently.
After a very stressful week I am pleased to report a 1lb loss and also my habits have changed enough that I didn't do a total binge when things started getting bad.
So after finding out that I'm not meant to be an event planner (fortunately not my day job!) I did have 3 takeaways this week but held back on the chocolate, the takeaways were more out of not having the time to eat through the day or time to prepare a decent meal in the evenings rather than bingeing, usually a bad day would have been takeaway followed by chocolate and lots of it. This time I avoided the prawn crackers and just ate until I was full.
I'm also 56 miles into my 100 miles in June target so well on track for that
Good luck everyone, hope we're all as positive and losing next week
Thanks, I had a 3 mile stroll during my lunch break and i'm considering walking home tonight so that's another 4 miles Congratulations on your loss, hope your back feels better soon so you can get back to exercising.
Sorry to hear you've had a stressful week, and glad you've got through it ok! It's great that you have been able to change your habits in response to stress, as that is a really positive change! Congratulations on losing that pound.
You're doing great on your target to achieve 100 miles in June as well - you're already over half-way there! That's brilliant.
Hope you have a less stressful week this week, and let's hope we are 'losers' next week as well.
Well, let's just say lessons were learned, I will never be the sole organiser for an event again, therefore I'll probably never be that stressed again This week will be much better
So, last week I lost 2 pounds! Really surprised! It must be down to the exercise...yesterday I cycled for 27 miles and last week I jogged 3 times. I am going to up my calorie intake so I dont loose too much too quickly. But I am happy with my progress and feeling very well. Congratulations to all of you who have lost too. I downloaded the change for life mealplanner app...those recipies are great.
A warm welcome to you! Hope you have a great first week. You've done the challenging bit, in terms of weighing in for the first time, and now hopefully you can look forward to losing those pounds.
Best of luck. The NHS weight loss site has lots of great advice and tips, have you seen it?
Being new here last Monday probably wasn't the best timing having my brothers 18th on Thursday and the boyfriends birthday on the Saturday! I knew there was going to be lots of cake!!
And being too busy that I only managed to exercise 1 day out of my usual 3 days a week! Plus they both wanted to go out for meals so I visited TGI Fridays and a Chinese buffet... Bleugh!
I did try my best not to eat so much and I guess it must have paid off! My first weigh in last week was 12st 8lbs and I am pleased to say that I am the same this morning! So glad I didn't put any on so I feel like I can start properly this week! It is my mums birthday Saturday too but thank goodness she does not want to go out for a meal!! Phew!
I'm glad reading that everyone's weeks have been just as good or better than mine! Well done everyone!
I hope you enjoyed the Birthday celebrations. You've done really well not to gain anything in those circumstances, so congratulations for 'maintaining'. Like you say, hopefully this week you will make good progress.
I hope you don't mind me joining. My name is Sophie and I'm 22. I've always been one of those people who could just what they wanted and not notice it but since I started uni I've just piled on the weight and I'm now overweight, according to my BMI.
I'm just starting week 4 of the 12 week plan and I weight 11 stone 3 oz. I've lost 5 pounds in total. I'm just wondering- the total calories consumed should be 1400. Is this net calories despite exercise or just a general total of 1400? Just because I use the Myfitness pal app, things get a bit confusing!
Also, I'd started doing the Couch to 5k plan but I've ended up with shin splints. This happens to me every single time, despite good shoes! So annoying. Anyone have any tips regarding this?
Thanks for all your help- it's really inspirational to see so many people doing well.
A warm welcome to you! You've done great to have lost 5 pounds so far, well done! I think the 1400 calorie guide is a general total, rather than a net total.
Sorry to hear you've got shin splints - hope you recover from those soon. I've never experienced them myself, so not sure I can advise you - but hopefully someone else will have some useful comments that will help.
You are doing so well, and hope you have another great week ahead.
I feel like we are in the same boat! I'm also 22 and have put on weight at uni. I finished the couch to 5k programme 2 weeks ago and that, combined with (mostly!) healthy eating, has resulted in a loss of 18 lbs in 2 months so I definitely recommend the programme.
There is another forum for c25k on this website but I found that my shin splints went away when I ran at a slower pace and making sure that I warmed up beforehand.
I weighed in this morning at 13st 13, I've been following the NHS 12 week [plan and have lost 6 lbs in 3 weeks, so am quite encouraged. I joined here today because I can't always stand to exercise, needed advice and have already found lots of tips, thanks everyone for being so encouraging to people.
Welcome to you! Glad you joined us today - it's great to hear you've already lost 6 pounds in the last 3 weeks. That's really encouraging. You are doing particularly well in view of the fact that you can't always stand to exercise - it's great that you've had some helpful tips and advice from people. I think there are lots of really supportive people in this community.
Hi lowcal ,, as you know I was struggling to get something off so I am pleased to say I have lost 2lbs and I am over the moon so my get up and go has come back so hopefully I will get more off this week xand well done you aredoing really well x
I put on half a pound this week, not too worried though. We went out a few times and I know I ate rubbish. I did walk over 100,000 steps last week which is probably why it's not a higher gain. Back on it this week!
I am sure that all your walking will have helped you last week, and you'll be that bit fitter too as a result! It can be very challenging to eat out - maybe think of some strategies to help you choose healthier things next time - I like the fact that some places do 'smaller' portions, or they allow you to have two starter sizes. Avoiding creamy sauces can also be a good idea. Tomato based sauces are tasty and much healthier.
Hi Lowcal, well done on your loss!!! I was 10.10 last week and 10.10 today which I'm happy about. Was at a party on Friday and drank far too much vino which lead then to a carb feast on Saturday and most of Sunday. I have managed 1 run last week but need to start w3 again this week. I'm hopeful to lose this coming week as I can't bear to feel fat and bloated next weekend. It's horrid. So onwards and upwards with my juicer!!!
Well done for maintaining despite that party and carb fest you had on the weekend. It's great that you also did you run last week. Good luck with doing w3 again - I'm sure that will get you back on track again. Hopefully next weekend you will be feeling less bloated and slimmer too!
I'm sure there's possibly a 'debate' about juicing, but I wonder if eating the whole fruit or vegetable might be 'healthier' because you're including all the fibre as well as the nutrients of the actual fruit or veg, and in addition it might be more satisfying to fill you up - although I know that having soup can be extremely filling, so the liquid consumption can definitely fill people up.
Do you make yourself nice mixtures in your juicer, or use it for making orange juice or other things?
A very warm welcome to you, and glad you have joined us. Are you trying the NHS 12-week plan? A lot of people find it really good. It has some great tips and is a structured plan.
Hope you have a great first week.
Lowcal
Well done on your loss.
I lost another 2lbs which takes my total loss to just over 1 stone! Am chuffed and determined not to lose momentum. My mother insisted a had (a huge) piece of cake on Sunday to celebrate Father's Day with my dad. As soon as she left the room, I ran over to my hubby, gave him my plate and ran back to my seat with his empty one. Lol. When she came back in she asked if I had enjoyed the cake. 'Lovelly' I said, her feelings unhurt, my weight loss preserved, but did nothing to help my poor hubby's cholesterol levels! My mother is my biggest weight loss saboteur psycologically. My daughter physically as she loads the fridge with fat laden pies, cakes and chocolate. My first job every morning is to move all her stuff into the spare fridge outside. Identifying and Finding ways around dieting pitfalls is part of dieting I suppose. Well heres to another successful week everyone.
Congratulations on losing 2 pounds - and especially that you've achieved just over a stone in weight-loss. Really great! I also think your strategy with the cake was brilliant! Probably not great for your husband's cholesterol levels (as you say), but it was a strategy that worked for you! At least you've become aware that your Mum is a potential weight loss saboteur, and you can therefore take action accordingly..! The more you tell her you don't want to eat certain foods, maybe she will eventually take the message on board.
Well done Bigmumma, a stone!! Great discipline. I definitely find it helps not having cakes, chocolate etc in the house. Not sure i would have declined the cake if I was handed it. X
Hi, I know it's Tuesday so I hope you don't mind my belated post!
Last Monday I was 9 stone 10 lbs and yesterday I weighed in at 9 stone 8 lbs. My waist was the same at 28 inches and I'm finding it hard to believe it will ever get smaller
My target for next week is 9 stone 7 (when I'm starting my internship) then 9 stone for when I go on holiday (22nd August).
Congratulations to everyone else and here's to another week of being losers!
You are very welcome to join in on any day - so thanks for popping by to join us for a weigh-in. Congratulations on your 2 pounds weight loss - that's really great. Sometimes it's purely the weight that seems to change and other times its the inches. Your waist will hopefully change soon as you get slimmer.
Good luck for when you start your internship and hope you have a successful week to achieve your goal.
How lovely that you stopped by to say hello, but tomorrow, look for the new thread in the "events" section on the right of the home page. This thread is actually 2 years old!
There are 2 threads posted on a monday, one between 6.30 and 7am and the second at approximately midday, you are welcome to join us in either and are encouraged to read the posts in both
I shall look forward to catching up with you tomorrow
