My goal last week was to lose a pound. However, I have continued to have a bad cold, and this has meant that I've not been able to exercise properly, and I have eaten more 'comforting calorific' foods than usual. I have therefore gained 1.2 pounds this week, and currently weigh 14 stone 2.6 pounds.... Oh no!!!!
Thankfully I am not feeling too despondent about this, as I do realise the reasons why, and I also know that it is only a small weight gain. So I am hopeful that things will improve. I need to get rid of this cold first, whilst remaining mindful of what I'm eating so that I don't let things get out of control.
Wishing you all success with your goals for this week. Hope you've had a good week so far!

Being ill can put a real spanner in the works sometimes, at least you're looking forward, I'm sure with your focus it will be a different story next week
Many thanks for your encouraging response. Yes, I am still looking forward, because I do miss being able to go to the gym and for walks etc, and am hopeful that I'll be able to get back to that soon. Hopefully this cold won't last too much longer!
Hi everyone I have been reading all your messages and advice for weeks and I am now motivated by all your comments so I have now decided to join the weight loss programme. I need to lose about a stone and half I am no good at sticking to diets always some excuse weekends are the worst, but well there seems to be a lot of losses on this one. Fingers crossed I would be happy with 3-4 lbs loss by Christmas don't sound a lot but I would be happy.
A very warm welcome! It's great to hear that you've found the site and all the messages to be so motivating, and I really hope you achieve your goals. I find this site really helpful, and the people here are really supportive and give great encouragement and advice.
Hope you have a great first week on the weight loss programme.
Hi Katherine welcome! Lowcal often starts our Monday weigh in thread, I like a virtual weigh in and Monday is good as I can see the damage the weekend has caused...... Is lovely to share success and help to keep us motivated if our plans stall
How frustrating but at least you know why and how it has happened and when the time is right (ie once your cold has gone) you will soon be back on track and I am sure the small weight gain will soon go.
I will be back on the scales tomorrow morning - not looking forward to it, but will get back on track.
Hope you have a good week and start to feel better soon.
Thanks so much. I am getting fed up with how long this cold is lasting, but hopefully it will go eventually. There are so many people with colds around at the moment - time of the year etc.
Good luck for your weigh-in tomorrow, and I hope the scales are kind to you!
Sorry to hear you're still under the weather. Don't get to down about the weight gain, I'm sure its more important to get rid of the cold. Hope you feel better soon.
My weight this morning was 64.3kg, down another 0.7kg. Obviously last week 65kg was not a freak low reading as I've managed to lose this week as well I weigh each day, so unofficially I actually managed to hit my goal of a healthy BMI last Thursday (63.9kg!). I was so excited that I stayed in my PJs and got out the Wii fit, just so I could see it declare my weight was "Ideal" rather than "Overweight". A bit sad I know but there you go
I've decided I want to lose a little bit more to be comfortably within the healthy weight range. My goal now is 60kg, but I'm not in a rush to lose the last bit. I'm away at my parents for my mums 60th birthday party this weekend. So, although I'll make a goal of getting below 64kg for the Monday weigh in I won't be suprised if that doesn't happen next week!
Wow, that's so great that you achieved your healthy BMI last Thursday. Congratulations!!!! I'm really happy for you. Lovely that you could get that recorded on your Wii fit as well. 0.7 kg loss this week is really great too.
Hope you enjoy celebrating your Mum's 60th BIrthday with her, and have a good week in the meantime.
Thanks for your sympathy regarding my cold. I really hope it will be a thing of the past soon!
Oh Lowcal get well soon! Good for you recording gains I find the problem is when you stop recording, you stop caring, it's horrid being under the weather hope you are back on track soon. I am at my lowest weight this week today 10.12 and 3/4 so 10.13 really I would like to maintain this week good luck and here's hoping we are all losers!
Thanks, I am hoping to get rid of this cold eventually, but it is very persistent! I really hope I might be able to record no gains by Monday next week.
Great to hear you are at your lowest weight yet - that's really good! Well done - your persistence is paying off, and I am sure you are looking great.
Good luck for this week. Hope it's going ok so far.
....full on weekend with family visiting -oh and I got the promotion I have been fretting about for weeks - so lots of celebrations- so i just stayed the same - that is ok.
i have rashly signed up for a xmas challenge on C25k to be nearer 11 stone than 12 by xmas. hmmmmm someway off that as of yet.
Hope you feel better soon - you seem cheerful - I would be v grumpy and bad tempered.
Congratulations on your promotion. Great to celebrate such things. Well done for not gaining as a result. Your Christmas C25K challenge sounds really good. But at the same time it sounds like a really long way. I have only ever run about 5k in one go. That tires me out no end!
I was just thinking about how I do feel about having this long-standing cold, and decided I feel 'fed-up' and then I thought that even that description has a link to food! Interesting!
The sun is shining today so that is really nice. Brightening up the day, quite literally.
