When should I go for PCOS blood tests?

Hi there community

My doctor has referred me for urgent blood tests to help understand what’s going on with my hormones.

She suggested that I should get the tests done approx 7 days before my period is due.

There are no appointments available 7 days before my period... but I could get one 3 days before or 10 days before. What do you think I should do? Get the blood tests nearer the time of my period or further from the time of my period?

(Ps it’s so hard to know when I’m having a period as they are irregular but I’m using ovulation tests and think I should be having a period in 14 days.)

Hey

I would probably go with the 3 days before your period as any hormone the test is looking for should be present that close to your period, whereas ten days before may be too early but it really depends what they’re looking for.

Maybe call your Doctor back and see what they think?

Every place is different... I was told I had to have my blood test when I was on my period to check my hormones.

Defo ring your gp and find out if 3 days early would be ok xx
