Do these bloods indicate pcos?

13.5 u/l lh

4.3 u/l fsh

Hi all these are the results of my blood tests at day 21.

I haven't discussed with gp but I've done my own research and found that these two hormones should be in the same levels as each other and a higher lh usually indicate pcos? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Sadly there’s no quick answer! Yes, a LH:FSH Ratio of over 2.5 per say can be a sign of PCOS but it depends on when the test was taken as the levels of both change through your cycle ( - you mentioned it was day 21 which isn’t the time I’d have picked but I do think it’s significant for that day) . It also isn’t a definitive test so you’d need other signs, symptoms or tests to confirm.

Do you mind if I ask why and where you had the test if your GP hasn’t discussed it? And if you have any other signs?

Ok so I've been trying to conceive for some time now. I got my bloods done at cycle day 3 which were different however progesterone was abnormal so he asked me to repeat at day 21. They did say they was testing testosterone but it didn't end up being on my form?

The cycle day 3 ones was

LH: 3.1 u/l

FSH 7.5 u/l

Estrodiol 198 pmol/l

Theres a big difference in the days but still the ratio is off?

See that LH:FSH I don’t think is abnormal. If I wanted to check LH:FSH I’d check in days 1-5, Progesterone I’d check in day 21. So I’m not sure how reliable day 21 LH and FSH are?

Do you have PCOS symptoms?

I understand! My gp just gave me the same form for both days. I had the same day 21 bloods done back in april too and the levels were a lot lower. This is the first time tho they've been checked In the beginning of the cycle cause no one told me it had to be day 3 ish

So I convinced the gp to test me at day 3 this month. It came back I was hypothyroid and since then veen taking levothyroxine. I don't know if that changes fsh and LH in anyway.

I had an ultrasound back in June in a&e due to really bad pelvic pains but nothing was detected. I wonder whether to just mentally disregard the day 21 bloods and go with the day 3 ones.

Honestly I see why you are considering PCOS and it should be pretty easy to diagnose in essence. Are you seeing an endocrinologist? Pelvic pain can be related to PCOS but a clear ultrasound suggests you may not have it, but you can have a normal ultrasound and still have PCOS and it also depends on type of ultrasound.

Have you gained weight or gotten bad acne or facial hair growth or hair thinning etc?
