Hello everyone

I have joined this group for some general advice from the uk and I am already a member on thyroid unlocked as I was diagnosed with under active thyroid hashimotos autoimmune condition just over a year ago

Prescribed the standard hormone thyroxine and has been increased accordingly over the past few months lots of symptoms still especially tired weight gain light periods and irregular periods bloating constipation back ache leg etc all thyroid related symptoms

Gp sent me for hormone bloods which were as follows

Fsh 6

Lh 8

Prolactin 452 (<501)

Testosterone 2.7 (<1.8)

Shbg 22 (26-110)

She said my testosterone is high and my shbg is low and this indicates pcos

In addition I’ve had hairs under my chin which I pluck out I’m quite fair but these are dark I’ve had them for a long time x 6/8 years and also massive weight gain around the middle and my hair has gone thin on one side at the front like it’s receeded my weight had been up and down for years also over the years irregular periods I’m not on the pill but when I was years ago whenever I came off it it would take over a year to have a period

I’ve got to go for a pelvic ultrasound on wed

Does anyone have any advice on the condition and my results?

A scan can sometimes show no cysts but it doesnt mean you dont have pcos, they are just a symptom and can come and go so dont let them try to say you dont have it as it sounds as if you have.

The combined pill would have kept your pcos symptoms at bay so can help with the hair (the extra on your body and losing on your head), I find being on it makes it much easier to lose weight as well.

I would ask to be referred to an endocrinologist as pcos is their area so not a gynae
