Have you tried Metformin ? It worked for me, all my spots cleared up within a couple of weeks and my skin has been clear since.

It is an off label treatment for PCOS. I saw a fertility specialist privately who then wrote to the GP telling him to prescribe it for me. I've been on it for over six months. It's done nothing to help ovulation but has kept my skin completely clear. I have had no unpleasant side effects.

How did you go about getting the fertility specialist as this maybe worth a look into

Our local private hospital had a fertility open day. You could look on the HFEA website to find a fertility clinic near you. A reproductive endocrinologist is the right type of doctor.

I read somewhere that PCOS could be considered as diabetes type 3. My blood sugar levels are normal but the metformin has cured my acne so there is obviously a link somewhere. Metformin also improves the quality of the eggs.

I hope you can get something to help with your spots. It's so miserable having adult acne.

You could try AHA facials. They help by peeling the top layer of skin. They help with scarring but don't stop new spots forming.

Good luck x

I went to a beauty salon and they gave me some advise on what products I could use to help calm it down, as well as regular deep cleanse facials. has really helped me as I only started getting spots in my 20 never in my teens did I have spots.
