any thoughts on these medichecks results after 4 months on vitamins

hi there, following advice from here, I've spent 4+ months taking vits B12 and a B complex, I'm also taking D+K2, magnesium and selenium.

These results are taken a few days ago. Is there anything to be gleaned from these?

I actually feel ok thyroid-wise (I think) but am still struggling regularly with pretty awful gut symptoms and my gastro consultant wants to get thyroid ducks in a row to rule out thyroid as the cause/contributory factor (unlikely is my instinct).

Ferrirtin (range 30-332) - 1/11/24 was 129, now 124

Folate serum (range >7) - 1/11/24 was 8.2, now 28.1

B12 active (range >37.5) - 1/11/24 was 50.7, now 115

Vit D (range 50-250) - 1/11/24 was 69.6, now 87

TSH (0.27 - 4.2) - 1/11/24 was 0.045, now <0.01

Free T3 (3.1-6.8) - 1/11/24 was 4.4, now 4.7

T4 (12-22) - 1/11/24 was 17.9, now 19.8

many thanks

Vitamin levels much better

Looking at previous posts looks like you are coeliac?

Therefore assuming your hypothyroidism is autoimmune

So presumably strictly gluten free

Are you also on dairy free diet

Are you on lactose free levothyroxine?

Your conversion rate of Ft4 to Ft3 has improved a little but you are likely to need T3 prescribed alongside Levo

This will also need to be lactose free - Teva 20mcg - cut into 1/4’s to get 5mcg

Standard starting dose is 5mcg - initially as 2.5mcg twice day (speck of dust)

Increase slowly to 2 x 5mcg

Retest in 2 months

thanks very much SlowDragon . Yes, coeliac and neurotically gf, but no not lactose intolerant (other than the first year or so after coeliac diagnosis, I assume while villi recovered - fine with lactose otherwise). And yes it's hashis.

Assume to get t3 I will need to track down a t3-friendly consultant, or source myself, is that right?

thanks again, as always really helpful

Yes

Roughly where in U.K. are you

Here’s link for how to request Thyroid U.K.list of private Doctors emailed to you, but within the email a link to download list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologists who will prescribe T3

Ideally choose an endocrinologist to see privately initially and who also does NHS consultations so that might eventually transfer to getting T3 on NHS

thanks again SlowDragon - we're in the west country - I got the list a few months back when I was trying to sort all this but didn't feel too bad so let it slide... will get back onto it. thank you!

Just wondered SlowDragon - with those results should I continue taking the vits as I am or increase/reduce/stop any of them (B12 and a B complex, I'm also taking D+K2, magnesium and selenium)? Thanks in advance - you are a wealth of knowledge

Well, your stomach acid will probably be low, for a start, and that can cause some pretty awful symptoms.
