Thoughts on these results please

Here is a list of results to compare from past thyroid tests I’ve only got these 4 at the moment as I changed doctors for about 6 years and they don’t appear to have updated files at the moment.

Half my thyroid was removed in 2011 due to nodules.

I’m supposed to have yearly checks on my thyroid which have been done most years since the operation apart from during Covid the last 2 years.

I am always told that my results are in range so I would appreciate some thoughts on this please.

Thankyou

Previous post including vitamin results

Low vitamin levels could be due to being slightly hypothyroid or because of age

Improving low vitamin D, folate deficiency and low B12 are first steps

Has GP done full testing for Pernicious Anaemia before starting any B12 supplements

Presumably GP has prescribed folic acid supplements

Retest full thyroid and vitamin levels 2-3 months time

Always test as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water

HelloThankyou for your reply, I am waiting to see my doctor re vitamin levels and other things noted on blood test results.

I am also awaiting ENT appointment as I have pain in thyroid area plus red sore throat.

As far as TSH levels rising over the years would this be normal? Or indication of Hypothyroidism

GP won’t entertain the idea that you might be hypothyroid unless TSH is over 5 (and often they are out of date on guidelines and say patient can’t be hypothyroid unless TSH over 10)

See flow chart on top of page 2 here

Low thyroid levels tend to lower vitamin levels

Low vitamin levels tend to lower TSH…..so getting vitamin levels optimal may increase TSH

A TSH over 2.5 is hypothyroidism. I was informed this by my private only Endocrinologist. And you’ll feel hypothyroidism symptoms. It needs to be hovering around 1.00. That’s where a healthy persons results would be. The NHS’s range are set too wide. Also informed by my private only Endocrinologist.

I wasn’t treated by the NHS until my TSH got to 36 by that time I was very unwell.

I think the fastest way to be cared for and treated properly is by going private. I wasted over a decade battling with the NHS. I finally went private, which wasn’t expensive either, I wish I’d done it far sooner but thought it’d be too expensive. I was pleasantly surprised. I’m now feeling better than I’ve felt in years after getting correct treatment. For me that was introducing T3 medication as I’m a very poor converter of Levothyroxine T4 to active T3. Now I feel years younger and full of energy. I wasted so much time of my life as I believed in the NHS wrongly.

Thankyou for your reply, I would say that I have hypothyroidism symptoms definitely but in the past was told I wasn’t. I’m being given different thoughts that just make me more confused. I will see what I get told when I see the doctor and also the consultant ENT when I finally get an appointment and maybe private is the way forward. Thanks Jacky
