Help with supplements

Hi there. Annie here . I have been taking thyroxine for 45 years and have Hasimotos. I have also recently (last year) been diagnosed with Pericarditis and HCM. I would really be grateful for some advise about supplements. I have a good diet and 90% cook from stratch, I also take supplements of Vit B complex, vitamin C, selenium/zinc, fish oils and vit D. Imagine my surprise from a recent medichecks blood test to see that I am low ( but within range) in ferritin, vit B and D. The doc recommended lysine supplements but I am not sure what to buy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated . Just to add that I am so grateful for all the great alive I have read about over the last few years from this site

My vitamin B supplements give me 200% NRV and my Vit D also gives me 200% NRV

Hi Annie, How are you feeling generally ? from your recent post.

My last Medichecks from September 2023 are TSH1.12mui/L, free t3 3.3pmol/L, free thyroxine 18.6pmol/L, thyroglobulin antibodies 48kiu/L, thyroid peroxidase antibodies <9kiu/L, ferritin 67ug/L, folate serum 23.4nmol/L, vitamin b12 49pmol/L. All inside normal ranges

Ferritin is one the looks low - they normally go for about 100.

I think vit D target is about 100 so you are nearly there and spring is coming ...

Folate 10 to 20 so at 30 odd you are high.

Hi Sleepman

I wasn’t expecting a response so quickly. I take 150 mg of thyroxine, I was taken off my t3 about 5/6 years ago by my doctor who said it was bad for my heart. Generally I am in good health but put 2 stone on last year after being on a high dose of steroids for 6 moths (pericarditis). I sleep well but get very tired during the day. Hope this helps

Both of these conditions are linked to hypothyroidism and looking at your results that  Sleepman has kindly added you should be asking for an Endo referral as your fT3 is woefully low though even an increase in T4 might help as 18 is only 60% if 12-22 range

Adding a sublingual B12 to your B complex would boost your levels something like Nature Provides

Ferritin is very low but need to do a full iron panel before supplementing as your iron levels could be high so best to sick with chicken liver pate etc
