As your TSH ids over 5 and you're taking a good amount of hormone it looks like you have absorption problems.

How do you take your Levo?

Its a very fussy hormone indeed.

Always take Levo on an empty stomach an hour away from food or caffeine containing drinks & other meds. Many people find taking it at bedtime works well for them.

Free T4 (fT4) 19.4 pmol/L (11.9 - 21.6) 77.3%

Free T3 (fT3) 6.65 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 95.9%

The trouble with taking a combination tablet is that its hard to fine tune FT4 & FT3.

On combi treatment the usual aim is to get both FT4 & FT3 to around 70% of range. So your FT4 is looking a tiny bit too high and FT3 quite a bit over.

As last dose of T3 was 18 hours before test your result is a false low, so real numbers would be higher.

I have no experience of dosing with bitiron but suggest you need to reduce slightly.

D3 level is a little on the high side. Its an oil based vitamin so possible to overdose and cause symptoms. Suggest you reduce your dose.

I often ponder this exact same thing and wonder: if my frees are virtually 100% 12 hours after a dose how high are they in the hours immediately after?!! Thing is, I’m feeling the best I ever have and finally I’ve lost some weight, albeit slowly, but I’m nevertheless concerned so considering how to tackle this

Joannak how are you feeling because as Jaydee points out, your thyroid numbers will have been much higher had you carried out the test closer to dose time …

That says it all. Forget the numbers and carry on whatever you’re doing / taking which is making you feel so good.

Hello cake-maker and thank you for helping

Im trying to do exactly that and forget the numbers for now because in any case, by this time of year I usually experience a need for a slight dose increase but haven’t sensed that yet so will hold the dose, watch and wait. Never a dull moment with this malarkey…

Thankyou yes I feel good am worried the antibodies are increasing with every bloods done even though they are negative ranges I read black seed oil helps so I am going to give this a try

As gg says, antibodies fluctuate

I’ve taken black seed oil for years but not to regulate antibody levels, just for its all-round health benefits. Will be interesting to hear if it has any impact on yours

What is Black Seed Oil alleged to do Noelnoel ?

Noelnoel profile image
Noelnoel in reply toCake-Maker

I take it for its “alleged” anti inflammatory and anti diabetic effects because diabetes is rampant in my family but it has (allegedly) many beneficial properties. I got the bug some years ago in turkey when I watched an artisan extract the oil from the seeds. I can’t say if it’s helping with keeping inflammation and diabetes at bay but it definitely does help keep my stomach in check. It somehow feels more settled when I’m on it. I have frequent lapses of taking it because the taste is horrible

As always, quality is key

Antibody levels have nothing to do with thyroid hormone replacement. They fluctuate all the time regardless of what you take. But yours appear to be negative anyway, so no point in worrying about them. :)

It looks to be like you are on too high a dose of thyroid medication. What happens if you just take the one dose first thing in the morning?

I'm not sure I'm reading your post right. Could you clarify what type of thyroid medication you are taking, what the dose is, and when you take it.

Bitiron 2 tablets daily 100t4 and 25t3

Cake-Maker profile image
Cake-Maker in reply toJoannak

That’s a lot of thyroid hormones. That wouldn’t matter if you needed them but I share the view of BB001 that you could be overmedicated.

I used to take levo only and have switched to NDT. One thing to bear in mind is that it's expensive (assuming you won't get it on the nhs). Look at the relative costs and if it's much more than you are paying now then you might want to try and tweak the dosage of what you're taking now before trying NDT.
