11 weeks ago my Levothyroxine (Teva) was increased a tiny bit from 100 to 125 on alternate days.Latest results

TSH 0.11 (0.27-4.2)

T3 1.0 (3.1-4.2)

T4 23 (12-22)

I've reduced again to 100mcg as of a few days ago. They'll retest again in a couple of months.

I have a telephone appt with a GP on the 22nd Oct.

Pointers for this conversation needed please?

The above results are very different from previous bloods.

( TSH 2.1 -T3 3.7 - T4 17.6)

I've recently also tested slighly positive ANA antibodies suggesting Sjogren's.

Ft3 seems ridiculously low, especially compared to previous test …..where it was also low, but nowhere near as low as now

What vitamin supplements are you taking

When were vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin last tested

Suggest you consider changing to Vencamil levothyroxine, as it’s lactose free and mannitol free

Retest after 6 weeks on reduced dose

Assuming Ft3 remains low you will need to see endocrinologist for prescription of T3 (liothyronine) alongside Levo

Here’s link for how to request Thyroid U.K.list of private Doctors emailed to you, but within the email a link to download list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologists who will prescribe T3

Ideally choose an endocrinologist to see privately initially and who also does NHS consultations so that might eventually transfer to getting T3 on NHS

3 months ago. I'm on great supplements, I'd been reading all advice on here and following advice from Functional Nutritional therapist. I'll look into Vencamil and definitely consider private endo.

Can Xylitol affect thyroid? I'd been using it in sugar free gums for dry mouth until I discovered its been giving ne acid reflux and bolus sensation in throat.

acid reflux and bolus sensation in throat.

More likely low Ft3 ….these are hypothyroid symptoms

Xylitol can trigger a FODMAP type response, with bloating/IBS symptoms. I can't tolerate anything like that. Its a shame because its supposed to be quite good for reducing inflammation.

Regarding the Sjogrens diagnosis, we have a few members with it so hopefully there will be more tips, saliva drops are supposed to be good I haven't tried. I've been recommended a warm compress for the eyes (I'm allergic to all eye drops) and estradiol (Ovestin) cream helps too.

Low FT3 is linked to low stomach acid, I would recommend Betaine with Pepsin during meals and apple cider vinegar (either as a shot with a little water or drizzled on meals). Its transformative and you don't need to take it forever, once FT3 rises (e.g. with a T3 prescription) it looks after itself.

Other low stomach acid/reflux tips, avoid dairy, avoid fizzy drinks with meals, raise the head of the bed a few cm, stop eating by 7pm for a 10pm bedtime 🙂
