Updated blood results any advice or comments much appreciated

Hi, I’ve got updated blood results which I’d like advice on please, results are at the bottom of the post, sorry it’s so long!

Would I benefit from a change of dose to either levo or T3? My prescriber had suggested going up to 20mcg T3

Should I reduce my B complex, maybe every other day?

Surprised my Vit D isn’t higher as I supplement daily and am outside a lot. Any tips?

My ferritin has dropped and I work hard to raise it (diet, folate and heme iron) am I missing something?

Meds; 100mcg levothyroxine and 10mcg T3, B complex, folate, zinc, omega 3, magnesium, vitamin D & K2, heme iron twice pw

Latest bloods done following all advice here:

TSH 0.035 (0.27-4.2) -5.98% thru range

T4 16.5 (12-22) - 45% thru range

T3 5.4 (3.1-6.8) - 62.2% thru range

CRP 4.53 (normal range <3)

Ferritin 39.6 (30-264)

Folate 45 nmol

Active B12 155 (37.5 - 187.5)

Vit D 89.5 (50 - 250)

In terms of how I feel -

I’m much better than I was. However I do still experience an afternoon crash on some days, especially if I’m late with taking my afternoon dose of T3

I have aching joints and am on waiting list for rheumatology as they investigate Sjorgens syndrome

I’m incredibly anxious, there are reasons for this but being on high alert all the time is knackering

Sorry again that it’s so long and thanks for all input 😊

Thanks for posting and providing all the useful info.

My anxiety is linked to my B12, ferritin and also my thyroid hormone levels.

I’d up T4 first rather than T3 looking at those % through ranges.

I’d also keep on the B Complex, in pinned posts there is a spreadsheet I made a while back with the most highly recommended brands and their ingredients to compare.

Increase ferritin with heme iron like Three Arrows from US. Very popular here. Quick to arrive and very effective. You might find your absorption improves too. 🌱

Thanks Regenallotment that’s really helpful. Not sure if my GP will agree to increase T4 as they’re focussed on the TSH. I’ll think about that conversation tomorrow when I can do more research on the reasoning. I’ve got the three arrows and started on a low dose so I’ll look to increase that. I may go back to my previous Thorne Basic B, I switched to a cheaper option…this malarkey isn’t cheap!

Take care!

Totally agree regarding expense.

Alternate days with supplements is worth trying if levels improve enabling you to work on maintenance rather than raising.

Three Arrows how long have you been taking those? What is your low dose? 1 a day or ?

I’ve been taking three arrows twice a week and therefore only 2 a week. I was nervous as previously I’ve had high iron and low ferritin. I will increase.

What a fab place this is for us!

Hmm if you have had high iron you had better get a full iron panel done to explain the full picture.

Definitely get full iron panel

Test early morning, only water to drink between waking and test. Avoid high iron rich dinner night before test

If taking any iron supplements stop 5-7 days before testing

Medichecks iron panel test

If iron is high but ferritin is low you can only improve with iron rich foods

Eating iron rich foods like liver or liver pate once a week plus other red meat, pumpkin seeds and dark chocolate, plus daily orange juice or other vitamin C rich drink can help improve iron absorption

I would also agree that next step ideally would be to increase the levothyroxine a little

Which brand levothyroxine are you taking

Whoever prescribes you T3 ……could they provide prescription for 25mcg levothyroxine

Suggest initially only increase by 12.5mcg daily

Thanks SlowDragon I’m on Almus levothyroxine and a good idea to try and increase by 12.5. I’ll contact my prescriber. Good advice!
