I have been on the same dose of T4 and T3 for the last 7 months ( T4: 82mcg and T3:22.5 mcg). I was then diagnosed with ADHD end of April and started taking Lisdexamfetamine plus electrolyte supplements. (Magnesium citrate, plus : Electrolyte complex - Ingredients: Calcium salts of orthophosphoric acid, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Chloride, Magnesium Oxide, Potassium Citrate)
Everyone always talks about being careful with T4, and takingT4 in the middle of the night always works well for me. However, I completely forgot to think about possible interactions with the T3 that I take.
T3 Medichecks levels:
April 2024 - 5.0 (T4 19.4 TSH 0.005)
May 2024 - 4.6 (T4 17.2 TSH 0.005)
June 2024 - 4.2 ( T4 18.6 TSH 0.005)
July 2024 - 4.0 (T4 16.4 TSH 0.006)
My T3 has been steadily declining, and at first I thought it might be because of the dexamphetamine speeding up my metabolism, but then Google reminded me that it could also be the supplements I had started taking.
Is it likely to be all down to the supplements, however? I am planning on steering clear of any supplements in the next six weeks and then redoing my bloods, assuming that it will right itself and T3 will then be absorbed better.
However, I have also lost quite a bit of weight in the last year, and there is still the possibility the lisdexamfetamine is affecting things. Could being underweight or the adhd medication also be a factor? Or have members found that magnesium, calcium etc does indeed have a massive impact on T3 absorption? Or would such supplements only make a slight difference? Any thoughts gratefully appreciated.
