The reason I got this checked recently is because I have come of the combined contraceptive pill (YAZ) as my gynocologist recommended this to help treat the inflammation problems I've been having due to my autoimmune condition (Hashimoto's). I had been on the same YAZ contraception pill since the age of 14- I am now 29.

Since coming off the pill (it's only been a month), I have experienced the below:

- For the first week, I had strong headaches for 4 days, these did not continue

-I have gained about 2kgs already but have not changed my diet and I exercise the same amount as before. Worried about this.

-I am bloated all the time after eating food

- I have been more low energy and moody

I was wondering whether coming off the pill would affect my thyroid panel (as I am changing my hormones) and mean I need to alter thyroid medication dose. Are my current results good or do I need to consider changing something in my medication? Why is my Serum sex hormone binding globulin level high- is this something to worry about? Did anyone else experience some weight gain after coming off the combined pill.

For reference, my last blood panel before this was end of April (when I was still on the Pill) Annoyingly, the NHS forgot to take more than TSH But here is what I had:

Serum TSH level 0.63 mU/L [0.3 - 4.2]

I also took a Medichecks test at the beginning of April:

Serum TSH level 0.29 mU/L [0.27 - 4.2]

Serum free T4 level 21.5 pmol/L [12.0 - 22.0]

Serum free triiodothyronine level 4.3 pmol/L [3.1 - 6.8]

I have an appointment with my endo next Tuesday, but wanted the wise advice of all of you first! (Sorry for all the info, I thought it was relevant)

Sorry you've not had any replies yet.

My comment will bring your post back up the news feed, so hopefully others will see it and respond.

Your conversion look poor with higher FT4 compared to lower FT3. Is this a long standing issue? I can’t say I’ve ever seen anything suggesting stopping the pill may cause it.

Have you had Folate, ferritin, B12 & Vitamin D tested?
