Feedback on Thyroid Function Results Needed Please

I've had full bloodwork done and everything is showing as healthy including (normal bloods, antibodies and autoimmune) OTHER than my Thyroid function tests which show as subclinical. Please see below tests. I'm experiencing extreme temperature variation from freezing cold with goosebumps visible then to hot and sweaty around my hairline and other areas. Occasionally I feel both cold/hot at same time. No visible thyroid change to neck or by feel. In the mornings I am waking up with a persistent cough leading to gagging but then it usually goes away. Any feedback would be most helpful! Is this hypo or hyper?

Sadly more information is needed. The T3 has not been tested nor have the anti-bodies - TPO & Tg. You will also need the testing of B12 - Folate - Ferritin - VitD - as all need to be optimal. Do you have a Thyroid diagnosis - what dose are you on ??

Antibody - Normal, Autoimmune - Negative. Didn't realise T3 needed to be done as well. Diagnosis so far has been subclinical hyper

Having the FT3 reading may confirm Hyper if over range ! As your T4 is well in range I very much doubt the Hyper diagnosis. Which anti-bodies were "normal " - sounds to me that you may have Hashimotos .... auto-immune thyroiditis.

So you don't have high TPO or high TG antibodies?

Are you on Levothyroxine?

Persistent cough might be dairy intolerance

Or you could have low stomach acid, common hypothyroid

Low stomach acid can lead to low vitamins, important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

antibodies normal and no autoimmune (negative) TPO result 33 iuMl

Range on TPO is normally positive if over 34 so 33 is suspicious

Your lab range may be different though

Were TG antibodies tested?

Sub clinical what? Your Free T4 is much too low to be hyper. Could be a problem with pituitary or hypothalamus so pituitary doesn't produce enough TSH (can be genetic, cause by blood loss at some time or head injury)

if you are till around as this post is two years old.. I have this too and I've been suspecting it's my reaction to taking the t4 pill!... buT uncertain. i did have high TPO and TG antibodies but have been treated for 25 years and now am on prednisone too for (presumed b elimination) PMR. I also have something like moyamoya vessels in my brain and a nearly blocked carotid and a tendency to high cholesterol and a tendency to high liver enzymes and a sub optimal kidney function (eGFR about 40 to 80..usually around 60's)...just adding in a bit in case it is the same with you.

My thyroid results are similar to yours at present and I've come to suspect that the TSH is suppressed by the prednisone (I'm currently on 2.5mg and have been on tapering from 20mg for 3.8 years now..so I would suspect any antibodies should be suppressed. Been told I'm hyper but I am not. Before the pred i would swing from heart beating fast and thumping and TSH low to a TSH of 110 ! (my highest when I stopped the thryoid meds for 3 weeks as I had a thumping and racing heartbeat and a pulse of over 220). I then went into smaller and smaller oscillations of TSH (like 110, then .001, then 28 then .03 etc). I think this is when I got diagnosed with PMR abd started predbnsione? (sorry I cannot recall and must go back thru my med test results!)

I suspect the prednsione suppressed the estrogen/rogeserone hormones whish are already low being post menopause ..and that triggers the sweats somehow..as pred at higher levels gave me those menopausal-like sweats.. but the goosebumps..and really freezing and then the sweats and really over heated ..and yes all same as you..even at the same time when it is moving from one to the other! The goosebumps are visible and touchable and thighs especially??..I will have to take more note! The sweats feels like all over but my undies lower front are drenched...yes hairline too I think.. I just know I have to change clothes!..after the sweta the pain if I have any is govene and I feel improved.

So sorry, I was just googling for an answer myself about goosebumps and sweats! I have recently been on methotrexate to try to suppress whatever autoimmune thingy is going on but my liver enzymes went too high after 3 doses of 5mg! ...but I do not think its related to the methotrexate as I take that weekly and this is daily..and seems to be timed to after thyroxine meds (T4 only ). (I also do take prednsione but am trying t take at a different time so I can figure this out!) .

I was on Armour equivalent for decades but I thought maybe it was not helping my autoimmune problem..so I went to T4 only when I started prednisone and that was easy then as the pred does help give me the T3 conversion and utilisation I need(it feels like I have it and am using it, even if studies show it reduces the T3!).. I have always find that with some cortisol (even just 3mg added) I no longer needed the T3 (though my measurements are not high)...

Hope I made sense. If any of these things are the same for you or if you figured out what was going on please let me know as you are the ONLY person so far I have heard of with this also...and I presume you aware on T4 only meds at the time?

if you are interested and haven't figured it out , I can enter my blood test results.. but I am still fey fatigued..they are almost the same as yours lately! low TSH and not high fT4 and not high fT3 but in range. It's definitely way more complicated than the dose you are on. I went from T4 of 100mcg to 90mcg and my Ft4 increased to a good level.. but earlier at that dose it wasn't and my TSH was high.. MY TSH has been it oscillating in ever decreasing amplitude since before I started on the Prednsione for PMR... something is going on. I have Never had my TSI tested despite requests.. so maybe I have both? ..and I don't think much will show after prednisone for years?
