Hi SlowDragon, thanks for reply ,started mum on b12 after her bloodtest, then week later, b-complex,still on this alone,at present, never both at same time, hence my question can/ should she take both.?B complex is (health leads) vit b complex 408 mg.Vit D test results was

83.3nmol/l

25nmol/l ,say vit d deficient requiring replacement .

25-50- vitd insufficiency.

50-150nmol/L adequate vit.d status

Supplied via prescription, brand-fultium capsules, 800 iu. Sorry to send you ,round in circles re.info not used to medical info ,figures, got a slow ,up take..!! So,both vit- b - daily now , best path ? Gazdad, Pp. .mum

So her vitamin D is ok

Might be better nearer 100nmol

Was she taking this dose vitamin D for some while before test?

B vitamins

Yes likely to need separate B12 as well as vitamin B complex

With serum B12 result below 500, (Or active B12 below 70) recommended to be taking a separate B12 supplement and a separate vitamin B Complex

Then once your Mum’s serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), she may be able to reduce then stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.

If Vegetarian or vegan likely to need ongoing separate B12 few times a week

In week before blood test, when she stops vitamin B complex, consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12 until day before test

Ok Slow Dragon ,thanks so much, from tomorrow, get my dear treasured mum to take both b12 & b complex, should I now request a blood test from her gp practice to see what her levels are? Not the most assisting of doctors to deal with but as her levo has been very slightly upped, would have thought they would want to check that ,eventually? nb, NO noticeable difference with fractional addition.. thanks again Top Lady..gazdad
