Since my last post to you and with my GP's agreement - I am taking a 400 Folate supplement ED

Alongside a B Complex capsule which contains 400 Folate

1 Vitamin D 1000 Calciferol ED

Seems you are converting T4 well enough you just don't have enough of it in your system...

Free T4 (fT4) 15.3 pmol/L (12 - 22) 33.0%

Free T3 (fT3) 4.2 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 29.7%

T4:T3 Ratio 3.643

I'd be pushing for an increase though you'll no doubt have the usual battle with a GP who thinks TSH is everything 🙄

Many thanks Eeyore - I have found that when I was on 100mcg it was fine for a while and then I became over medicated which is why I dropped back to 75/100 EOD - I have been on this regime since 28 November 2023

I don't know if there is another combination I could consider that you could suggest that would help to keep me level ??

I was hoping that maybe the symptoms would have lessened with an increase on my Folate levels and still might be as I started the increased dose from 400 to 800 on 14 January - so am just a month in on this. I do feel that there is a small improvement in how I am feeling since then.

Many thanks

Perhaps 100mcg 5 days a week with 75mcg the other 2? Sometimes it's the smallest changes that balance things out 🤗

How are your ferritin and iron levels?

Looking back your fT4 level was only 15.9 (49%) in December whilst on 100mcg daily, still very low, what were your overmedicated symptoms?

Sometimes we go through a yucky phase but need to stick with the dose increase as things get better generally within a couple of weeks

Thank you Eeyore - I will try the 5 x 2 changes - and agree that maybe it is only a small amount that is causing the symptoms. I have become very attuned to my body and when I was on the 100mcg per day I was really feeling so unwell - with overmedicated symptoms and being unable to wake in the morning - Severe Palpitations Shortness of breath - Fatigue/Weakness.

The symptoms I have now are less than at that time but still making it difficult to live rather than exist and just drag myself through each day.

I had also hoped that if my Folate level was higher that too would help in being more optimol ? What are your feelings about that please.

The only thing that has been consistent since first being first ill in August 2021 has been the raised Ferritin Levels and these have fluctuated and been from 700 but is now currently 548 with no explanations - I have been tested for Heomachromatosis which was negative and have just received further Genetic testing but nothing has given any answers -

I have a very good and understanding GP - but do like to be as informed as possible when having an appointment.

I know I am a complicated case but grateful for your help.

So your ferritin is a bit up and down which can happen but they have presumably checked your iron levels are sufficient?

You are very wise to keep abreast of things as they are all the time cutting back

Lets hope the folate picks up and a little more Vit D wouldn't go amiss 🤗

Thank you Eeore - really helpful - I always try to just make one change at a time but will take further Vit D in a bit when I have given the Folate a good chance - so that I can see what is helping or not.

Yes thank you I do also have my Iron Studies done to keep an eye on things.

I do feel that I am quite near to finding the Sweet Spot and hope this is not just wishful thinking ????

Thank you again Lemondrizz.
