Hello,I posted this over two weeks ago and only received one reply suggesting taking higher dose of levo with which I don't agree beyond at TSH 1.3

But how you feel has little to do with your TSH level. TSH doesn't make you feel anything itself. It's just a very vague indicator of thyroid hormone status. It's T3 that causes symptoms when it's too high or too low. Your FT3 could well be too low for your needs.

Also your B12 and ferritin are on the low-side, and they will be causing symptoms, too. So, they need optimising.

No range for the vit D?

Hello, vid D is there, 55.4. It's under vit b12 results.TBH, I requested those tests 3 months ago when I want feeling well but since then it had changed and not feeling too bad, not counting being stuck with sciatica ATM 😭

I saw GP today who gave me the typical your results are within range take to which I said they might not be optimal. Honestly, I don't know what my T4 and T3 should be. Everyone only talks about TSH

Yes, I know the vit D result is there, but where's the range?

Honestly, I don't know what my T4 and T3 should be. Everyone only talks about TSH

Doctors talk about TSH. They don't know any better. Patients in the know have little interest in TSH.

FT4 and FT3 should be where they make you feel well. And that would be different for everyone because we're all individuals with different needs. But, if we look at euthyroid levels - i.e. in someone with no sort of thyroid problem - the FT4 would be around mid-range, percentage wise, with the FT3 slightly lower. And then, add to that that hypos need their levels higher than euthyroid. So, anything under mid-range is almost certain to make you feel bad. Above mid-range, we have to increase slowly until we reach our sweet-spot.

Unfortunately, doctors haven't a clue how to interpet blood test results - makes you wonder why they even do them! They know so little that they believe that anything anywhere within the range just has to be good - they don't even understand what a 'range' is! So we have to be very persuasive about not feeling good, and all that, in order to get an increase in dose. Hypothyroidism is not for sissies! It's damned hard work! 🤣

I never get range for vit D at for the others but please see the result now.I know it's definitely too low and lower than before.

The fact that GP s have no clue I could write a book about and that's not only regarding thyroid.

I'm currently going though sciatica and I was unable to leave the bed even to use the toilet but as long as I don't have incontinence, I shut just take painkillers and wait for it to pass.

When I went to request those test, I waited 4 weeks for a 15 minutes emergency apt! Now you have to book a month in advance for emergency. I feel like booking now for December in case I have flue!

On that apt, the GP refused to test antibodies she said there's no point. ", But why do you care for antibodies", she said. To which I replied to determine if I have Hashimoto. "But what difference it makes? All hypo is Hashimoto" she replied 🙈

She also refused to discuss my back problems.. 2 weeks later in in agony!

I work for a specialised hospital in admin and I could not sleep knowing we're neglecting our patients even from the admin site let alone medically!

OK, so there you have your range. It says that 75 maybe beneficial to the frail and elderly, add hypos to that list! In fact, getting it nearer to 100 would be more like it. So, yes, your vit D is low. Are you supplementing it? And are you also taking its co-factors: vit K2-MK7 and magnesium?

The fact that GP s have no clue I could write a book about and that's not only regarding thyroid.

Oh, totally agree! All they're good for is looking at a computer screen and writing prescriptions for dangerous drugs - although never the ones you actually need!

Of course all hypo isn't Hashi's! There are many, many reasons for becoming hypo, like trauma to the neck, pituitary problems, iodine deficiency (although that's rare), ingestion of certain drugs, etc. etc. etc. Silly woman! So, I suppose that if you suddenly have a Hashi's 'hyper' swing, she blames you for 'abusing' your thyroid hormones (although quite how that would work they never explain!) and slashes your dose! What a waste of public money most doctors' training is!

What replacement thyroid hormones are you taking

Just levothyroxine?

Or Levo plus T3

Was test early morning, fasting and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

FT4: 14.9 pmol/l (Range 10.5 - 21)

Ft4 only 41.90% through range

FT3: 5.5 pmol/l (Range 3.5 - 6.5)

Ft3 66.67% through range

What vitamin supplements are you taking

Vitamin D is too low

Ferritin and B12 too low

vitamin D

GP will often only prescribe to bring vitamin D levels to 50nmol.

Some areas will prescribe to bring levels to 75nmol or even 80nmol

leedsformulary.nhs.uk/docs/...

GP should advise on self supplementing if over 50nmol, but under 75nmol (but they rarely do)

mm.wirral.nhs.uk/document_u...

But improving to around 100nmol by self supplementing may be better

Once you Improve level, very likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there.

Test twice yearly via NHS private testing service when supplementing
