As anyone had a Buscopan injection before a colonoscopy, concerned as have AFib, Hypothyroidism and Haemolytic Anaemia. Is it necessary to have one of these injections?

As no-one has replied I will put my tuppence worth in. Firstly I would discuss this with whomever (or department) does this procedure. It would seem it’s an unusual question and nobody here knows the answer. As I understand it Buscopan is some sort of bowel relaxant. People with IBS take it daily.
I have had 2 colonoscopies and have never been given buscopan. I would (politely) enquire why it is necessary.
Had the procedure today, miscommunication between the nurses and consultant doing it, he thought I had no cannula and only administered Buscopan literally a few minutes before the end. It made my heart rate rise by 30-40 beats.
