Colonoscopy query for meds

I’m having a colonoscopy on Friday afternoon. I start taking the Moviprep Thursday evening 7 pm. My second is at 8.30 am Friday morning.

It says usual meds should be taken at least two hours before starting the Moviprep to minimise flushing meds through and not being absorbed.

I normally split my Levo and my Liothyronine-:

25mcg Levo and 5 mcg Liothyronine at 7am

then

37.5 Levo and 5mcg Liothyronine @ 9.40pm

How should I take my meds please?

Thank you 😊

If it were me I would take the evening dose on Thursday early and the Friday morning dose the same. You may not feel great on the Friday but it is only one dose that may not be absorbed very well. By Friday you can take your evening dose as normal. Have you ever done this prep before? It can be a bit surprising. In fact the prep is the worse bit. Remember it’s just one day. Drink loads of water to stop the headache.

Good luck

I’ve had two. I didn’t feel pain but then i insisted on sedation. Hope it goes ok 👌

No need to be sorry, that’s just how I am. I struggle with bowel problems.

Thank you for your help 😊

When I've had to do prep for a colonoscopy or anything similar I have found this stuff to be invaluable :

boots.com/metanium-everyday...

Use it generously and use it before each bowel movement - it helps to reduce the acidic burning from the clear out.

That NHS “moving medication” was a killer for me!! I was on the loo most of the night and the cramps were something else☹️. My bottom was on fire.

A few years earlier I had a private test and the evacuation process was much more gentle. It started a few days before. You had to follow a diet sheet and gradually cut down on roughage etc, until the final day when only fruit drops( candy) were allowed.

Yes it is harsh. There is a diet sheet to follow for 3 days before though.
