I have had 2 sets of results from iron panels recently and would really appreciate any thoughts/ advice.
I am aware my ferritin is low in range so wondering what to do to improve? I have intermittent weakness, sometimes severe.
I haven’t been supplementing my B vitamins for a while so wondering what would be the safest way to do so to improve ferritin levels and what products would you suggest?
Results 12 June 22 Medichecks:
Iron 24.5 umol /L (5.8-34.5)
TIBC 50.9 umol / L (45-81)
UIBC 26.4 umol/ L (24.2-70.1)
Transferritin saturation 48% (20-50)
Ferritin 40 ug/ L (13-150)
29th June 22 (Private GP):
TIBC 51 umol/ L (41-77)
Transferritin saturation 33% (20-55)
Ferritin 52 ug/ L (13-150)
Heamoglobin A1c 5.4%. (4-6)
HbA1c nmol 35.9. (20-42)
I am sure I’m having low ferritin symptoms? My thyroid bloods have been improving to 50% through range for T3 and T4 (best they’ve been) as a result of addition of T3 and titrating T4 so I’m looking to rule other issues out for my chronic fatigue/ weakness. I have had improvements on the addition of T3, but feel something else is going on aside thyroid/ autoimmunity.
Due to repeat vitamins (last done Feb 22) but then we’re all in top third of range- Vit D, B12, Magnesium, Folate not tested.
Any help would be great in understanding what these results mean and what can be done, if anything? Thanks in advance

B vitamins aren't going to improve your ferritin levels, taking B vits will only improve B vitamin levels.
Did your GP iron test include serum iron?
Your Medichecks serum iron is 65.15% through range.
Your Saturation with Medichecks is 48% and with the GP 33%. Optimal levels for serum iron are 55-70% (higher end for males) and for saturation 35-45% (higher end for males).
TIBC low in range suggests no need for supplementing iron.
Your haemoglobin is good.
Your results do not show iron deficiency or anaemia, just low ferritin. You can help raise your level by eating liver regularly, maximum 200g per week due to it's high Vit A content, also liver pate, black pudding, and including lots of iron rich foods in your diet
Hi Seaside Susie Thanks for your prompt reply. This is really helpful! I do have a good diet so will add the liver pate over a week to see if this raises levels. My GP didn’t include serum iron for some reason??
