Here are my recent results from medichecks. I would appreciate any comments I supplement with Magnesium , selenium vitamin D3 and k2 and Thorne Basic B and a B12 spray.

My GP has seen my low tsh from an NHS blood test taken at the same time as the medichecks and wants to speak to me I should imagine to lower my Thyroxin however I do not feel suppressed.

I notice my vitamin D levels hardly improved since starting supplement in October also my ferritin has dropped.

I followed all advice from here before blood draw. Thanks in advance for your comments.

CRP. 0.39 mg/L. (0-5)

Ferritin 28.7 ug/L. (13-150)

Folate serum 17.51 ug/L ( >3.89. -19.45)

Vitamin B 12 active 82.5pml,/L. (37.5 -150)

Vitamin D 47 (50-200)

TSH. 0.06 mu/L. (0.27-4.2)

FreeT3. 4.55pmo/L. (3.12-6.8)

Free Thyroxin 18.1 pmo,/L (12-22)

Thyroglobulin antibodies 14iu/mL. (< 115)

Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies >600 iu/mL (<34)

CRP. 0.39 mg/L. (0-5)

A very good result, as an inflammation marker the lower the level the better.

Ferritin 28.7 ug/L. (13-150)

Any idea why your ferritin should drop so much, it was 58.8 in February. This level is now confirmation of iron deficiency according to NICE - see

cks.nice.org.uk/topics/anae...

In all people, a serum ferritin level of less than 30 micrograms/L confirms the diagnosis of iron deficiency.

So you need to discuss this with your GP who should do an iron panel consisting of Serum Iron, Transferrin Saturation Percentage, Total Iron Binding Capacity plus Ferritin. This will show if you have iron deficiency. Also a full blood test should be done to see if you have anaemia. You can have iron deficiency with or without anaemia. Do not supplement yourself with this level, if you have iron deficiency or anaemia you GP should address this and regularly monitor your levels.

Folate serum 17.51 ug/L ( >3.89. -19.45)

This is a good level.

Vitamin B 12 active 82.5pml,/L. (37.5 -150)

Improved from 69.7 but a work in progress. We generally say 100 plus for an Active B12 test, but keep on with the B Complex and it may improve.

Vitamin D 47 (50-200)

This has hardly risen. What D3 supplement are you taking and how much?

TSH. 0.06 mu/L. (0.27-4.2)

FreeT3. 4.55pmo/L. (3.12-6.8) = 39.19% through range

Free Thyroxin 18.1 pmo,/L (12-22) = 61% through range

Have you reduced your dose since last test? Quite a difference, FT4 reduced from 93% and FT3 reduced from 50.81%. Low ferritin could be playing a part, needs to be at a good level for thyroid hormone to work properly and 90-110ug/L is suggested by some experts for thyroid function. Your Hashi's could also be playing a part, I don't have Hashi's so no personal experience but levels do fluctuate with Hashi's.

You most certainly don't want your dose of Levo reduced, if anything an increase is warranted regardless of your TSH being suppressed, so don't let your GP reduce on basis of TSH, point out your FT4 and FT3 levels to show you're not overmedicated.

Thyroglobulin antibodies 14iu/mL. (< 115)

Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies >600 iu/mL (<34)

You already know you have Hashi's. Have you tried a gluten free diet, it helps some Hashi's members.

Thank you for your reply. I can't understand why Ferritin has dropped either . The results state this is normal reading based on range medichecks used .I have had a bit of tiredness and tinnitus has been bad for a month. I am vegetarian and gluten free. I take Better You D3000 with k2 for about 2 months and previously on a prescribed lower dose .

Thyroxin dose 100mcg not changed.

As a vegetarian with Hashimoto’s it’s extremely difficult/impossible to maintain good iron levels

Likely to need to supplement regularly

Request full iron panel test from GP

Come back with new post once you get results

Thanks for this

Ferritin might be within range but it is still classed as iron deficiency by NICE.

I would try increasing your D3 dose. If it doesn't improve I'd say the spray isn't for you and try the Doctors Best softgels I previously suggested and at the dose I suggested or sublingual oil based drops.

How many sprays of your D3 are you taking?

3 sprays a day

It seems we’re all different, even with supplements. 3 sprays per day kept my D3 up over 100 this past winter. It’s all trial and error 😱

I would like to say, get your selenium level checked. I am recovering from a near death experience from selenium toxicity. It started with brain fog last autumn, in mid January I had what appeared to be a stroke, but scans gave all clear. Symptoms are only just subsiding now.

I take cytoplan selenium 100ug daily however I have never had it tested My symptoms at the moment are fatigue and ringing in my ears. Apart from that I feel much improved compared to a year ago . This site has been a great help and support especially with advice about supplements and gluten free diet . I am hoping that the low ferritin being addressed will resolve the symptoms.

I had to increase my vit d supplement a lot to make any difference. My pharmacist was really helpful in finding the right one for me. I take 2,000iu a day.

Are you caffeine free? Caffeine can interfere with vit D absorption.

Thanks for this. I only drink decaffeinated coffee and tea only 2 cups a day.
