Any thoughts as to why increasing liothyronine (extended release) by just 1 mcg makes me hyper, but when not taking it I’m hypo?

I am taking 9.79 mcg liothyronine extended release plus .125 mcg generic synthroid in a.m. for Hashimoto's. In the afternoon I was taking 8.79 mcg liothyronine and crashing by mid-afternoon. When I try increasing to 9.79 in the afternoon I feel ‘normal’, can do what I need to do, but feel anxious, slightly hyper and occasionally have a headache. I have tried this increase several times with the same result and am too uncomfortable with how I felt. I also take iron, zinc, and D.

This is my first post--I hope I have included necessary info. After decades of only synthroid and being constantly fatigued, cytomel has helped me to start waking up. Thanks for any help.

marlyn123,

Welcome to our forum. Iron & nutrient results all look great.

FT3 is 58% through range and FT4 is at top of range. If that tiny T3 increase makes you feel hyper then maybe you are crossing a threshold. I myself would feel better with slightly lower FT4 levels.

How long since you introduced T3?

When was blood drawn in relation to previous T4/T3 dose taken?

Thank you for your reply. I added T3 to the generic synthroid a year and a half ago, but have been tweaking the dose ever since to try to feel good but without being hyper. Blood was drawn around 8:30 am, 24 hr after t4 dose and about 18 hr after T3. Guess i need to ask my doc about backing off on the synthroid a bit. Thanks for your input.

FERRITIN 90 Reference Range: 16-288 ng/mL

^^^Could it be that your ferratin levels arent optimal and its preventing your from any increase???? Youre at 90 and midway would be 152.
