At A Loss

Hi,

I've been Hypo/Hashi's for 20 years now. Completely GF/DF/EF/SF for just about that long. I did so well on NDT until the pig flu debacle years ago, then Armour and the other NDT's stopped working.

I currently take only T3 for about 4 years now. I was taking 62.5 mcg split throughout the day. I just bumped it up to 75 mcg due to having bad symptoms:

Ringing in left ear only

Painful bottom of feet

Muscle pain

Fatigue

My latest labs were:

Free T4 Range 0.8-1.8 My number: 0.2

Free T3 Range 2.3-4.2 My number: 3.9

Vitamin D Range 30-100 My number 37

What could be causing these symptoms? I am supplementing with D3 5,000 u daily.

Any help/insight is greatly appreciated!!

Could very well be that your FT3 is still too low for you needs. Have you ever tried taking it all at once rather than splitting it?

No B12, folate or ferritin results? They could also be low and causing symptoms.

Hi greygoose,

Thank you for responding! My B12 and Ferritin were normal from my labs drawn in Feb. I didn't list them since they were within range for hypo.

I have always split my dose since I tend to peter out in the afternoon. It gives me a little boost.

This is so frustrating. And the usual weight gain. Tired of that as well!

I will increase my T3 in a week, as I just bumped myself to 75 mcg.

Thank you so much!

Yes, I meant to say, it will take time for that increase to take effect, so don't be in any hurry to increase again. Ideally, wait six weeks and retest, and see how you feel then.

Just being in-range is not the same as being optimal. And 'normal' is meaningless and should be erased from the dictionary! Best if you give the numbers - results and ranges - and let people take a look. :=

Thanks so much! In Feb 2024, My B12 was 405. Range is 200-1100.

Ferritin was 194, Range is 16-232.

Are these optimal?

ferritin is a little on the high-side. was crp high?

b12 should be higher, at least over 550.

Interesting! I'm sorry, but what does crp mean? I will continue to supplement with b12. Thank you so much for your help!

CRP is C-Reactive Protein, and inflammation marker. If inflammation is high you will get a false high ferritin result so the two should always be tested together.

Are you taking a B complex? The Bs all work together and need to be kept balanced. So, just taking one B vit in isolation is not going to help much.

My MD has me take P5P only. Should I be adding a different B?

I appreciate your help so much! :)
