Hi again,

I have had the results of the latest blood tests requested by the DR, and those I did privately (same day, and within 1 hr of each other 8am and 8.40am). Blood tests on empty stomach, last levothyroxine dose 24 hrs previously. (Thanks to advise on here.)

I am currently on 100mcg levo (reduced 26/04/21). Diagnosed with underactive thyroid 2006.

GP Test results 26/10/2020

TSH 0.03 range 0.35-4.

T4 not tested

T3 4.1 range 3.5-6.5 (20%)

Levothyroxine reduced from 150mcg to 125mcg on basis of TSH

GP Test Results 31/03/2021

TSH 0.03 range 0.35-4.5

THYROGLOBULIN ANTIBODIES <10 RANGE 0-115

THYROID PEROXIDASE ANTIBODIES <9 RANGE 0-34

Thank you for the advise to get a full thyroid test and vitamins. I can see that I need to increase the VIT D supplement I take.

I would welcome thoughts/advise on T3 and T4 levels. I am not experiencing the same horrible symptoms as when first diagnosed but think am experiencing some. However, my thinning hair on top of head has started to re-grow since reducing levo ( I think, I didn't notice it at first - my sister did).

But my T3 seems to be reducing over the years (but fluctuating also) I was on 175mcg at some point but cannot remember when reduced to 150mcg. Results from GP tests for T3, range 3.5-6.5 (I don't have results for T4 as they didn't test.)

18/09/2014 4.3 67%

23/07/2015 4.84 3.33%

11/02/2016 4.1 20%

09/12/2016 3.9 13.33%

07/06/2017 4.5 33.33%

16/08/2017 4.6 37%

17/01/2018 4.4 30%

24/01/2019 4.4 30%

08/01/2020 3.2- 10%

26/10/2020 4.1 20%

31/03/2021 4.1 20%

21/06/2021 3.4 -3.33%

I have a telephone consultation next week, and plan to ask open questions about conversion and pituitary. Anything else?

I really appreciate your advise, and recognise this is a long post, so thank you in advance to anyone who comments.

I'm so sorry - another doctor who only goes by TSH.

Once you are on thyroid medication, your actual thyroid hormones - and how yo feel - are MUCH more important, and your results here clearly show you are under-medicated [and that once it's suppressed a TSH is quite happy to stay really low for a very long time]

Most of us only feel properly well when both free T4 and free T3 are in the top third of the lab range (and key nutrients are good). On that basis you need a 25 mcg a day increase and probably another a couple of months later ...

You can't see how well you convert unless both frees are tested at the same time - but you can see that free T3 isn't high enough at the moment. Good luck x

I think your main question should be: why does he never test the FT4 when what you are taking IS T4? There are no questions you can ask about conversion or pituitary - and certainly no answers - without knowing the levels of both Frees.

It your FT4 is high, that would be why the TSH is so low, and nothing to do with the pituitary - the pituitary is just doing its job, which consists of lowering TSH output if it considers there's enough thyroid hormone in the system, be it T4 or T3. And, as fuchsia-pink says, there's no way you can tell how well you convert without knowing your FT4.

Your doctor is so so wrong, dosing by the TSH. He is going to make/keep ou sick. Is there another doctor you can see?

Thank you both

T 4 was tested this time - but with all the information it was easy to miss

GP Test Results 21/06/2021

TSH 0.28 range 0.35-4.5

T4 13.1 range 11.5-22.7 (14.29%)

T3 3.4 range 3.5-6.5 (-3.33%)

TSH is low as is T4 and T3
