Off to Dr in an hour. Just received blood results from private tests. Can anyone quickly advise what to expect?

Free t4 19.6 (11.0-26)

TSH 6.05 (0.35-4.5)

Free T3 4.1 (3.1-6.8)

Any advice gratefully received.

are you on levothyroxine? it seems to be increasing your t4 levels but not t3 and tsh which is high. how are you feeling? can you tell which medicin you are using and the dosage?

I am on 100 Levo lowest have ever taken. Felt so bad in February spaced out, dizzy, passed out, and felt Levo the cause -on 125 at time. Stopped taking Levo and started on anti depressants for severe anxiety. Slowly reintroduced Levo but stopped at 100. To be honest feel ok but think it's citalopram the anti depressant keeping me well?

Thanks for quick response

depends what your complaints were before the anti depressants. my personal experience depression causes the worst fatigue.

my opinion is although you are on medication your body might be having hard time converting t4 to t3. levothyroxine is only t4 medicine. conversion is done by several organs including your thyroid. but if your thyroid is damaged it cannot do the conversion so for some people a combination of t3&t4 is necessary for optimal treatment.

Thanks for that. Will see what GP says otherwise will go back to private Endo who would prescribe T3 whereas my GP will not. 😉

If you are in the UK and Endo prescribes privately for the licenced UKT3 it might be too expensive per month. If Endo can prescribe Cytomel, unlicenced but licenced in the USA it should be cheaper but maybe he can prescribe on a 'named patient basis'. Not sure how much you'd have to check.

Hi

Have you tried T3 in the past?

May be beneficial for you to take T3/T4 combo

Agree TSH high, but T4 well into range; T3 low in range tho'
