A list of documents I have assembled which could be of interest or use to thyroid patients.

Some document names have recently been changed (albeit just a single character in several cases). And others I have removed for various reasons.

Please don't get put off by the number of pages!

Not everything is in this one document - my major medicines document is still separate!

That’s fantastic Hellvella. Thanks for the summary post & also for doing the research & helping those of us who aren’t as capable - it’s very much appreciated

Though I wish I could access the PDF of Dr Lowe - any suggestions why it doesn’t work for me?

helvella profile image
helvellaAdministratorThyroid UK in reply to Jacs

It is big. About 56 megabytes.

One possibility is that you are simply not allowing long enough for it to download.

I have just checked and it works for me.

Do you get a prompt when you click on the link?

What sort of device are you using?

Can anyone else let me know if it is working for them?

radd profile image
radd in reply to helvella

Yes, working for me, all 828 pages!

Thanks for all this hard work Hel, it's really helpful.

Brilliant. Thanks Helvella.

Could thyroid UK publish this in a guide? It’s worth it’s own publication or booklet.

I find it difficult to download documents from Healthunlocked.

helvella profile image
helvellaAdministratorThyroid UK in reply to Adam10

The downloads are not actually coming from HealthUnlocked - they are all in DropBox.

I know you will get a page popup, something like:

Redirect Notice

Looks like you clicked

dropbox.com/s/f3qlchoop8356...

If you do not want to visit that page, you can close this browser tab.

That is just to give you the opportunity to see where a link is taking you and let you decide whether or not to continue. If you accept that warning, it should prompt what you want to do - view or save - and then do that.

Your experience is, of course, going to depend on whether you are doing this on a phone (IOS or Android), tablet (IOS, Android), computer (MacOS, Windows, Linux, Google OS, etc.), or something else.

(If I have made a mistake with any links, do let me know.)

well .. i'm darned if i know how you have time to make any bread.. even if it is with neanderthal grains.. Thanks so much for all your efforts :)

:-)

Must say, though, that I enjoy making my own bread - and now I have identified flours that I like using, am going through lots of experimentation.

recommend building woodfired oven in garden (tastes even better)... you do need a willing 'fire stoker' though and a pile of nice ash logs ;)

helvella profile image
helvellaAdministratorThyroid UK in reply to tattybogle

You obviously haven't been reading that wood fires are among the worst pollution sources in the country!

I know the story below is about heating by wood fire, but I can't see an oven being that much better, except it doesn't need to run for as many hours a week.

Wood burning at home now biggest cause of UK particle pollution

Fires used by just 8% of population but cause triple the particle pollution of traffic, data shows

theguardian.com/environment...

Though I would like to try a wood fired oven...

tattybogle profile image
tattybogle in reply to helvella

Trust me .. that's only true if you burn badly seasoned wood and don't have a proper baffle at the top of the burner to reburn the secondary gasses. Far too many people making shonky wood burners and selling wood they chopped down 6 months ago.

Do it right and it's perfectly 'Eco' as long as you keep planting more trees than you chop down , and look after them properly while they grow. ..... just need a REALLY big garden :)

We used to heat a big building (with just 1 hour a day burn in a tiny fire box) with a very efficient swedish tiled woodburner (bit like a storage heater) .. it did the hot water too..

Do you use a bread machine ?

helvella profile image
helvellaAdministratorThyroid UK in reply to mandy-white

No - though I have in the past.

I wish that bread machines were more flexible. I prefer a slow rise which most bread machines can't do.

I can not get an edible loaf of bread from my bread machine. Have you shared on here how you make yours ? Xxxx
