You need to give reference ranges as well as the results, but by all the ranges we see on the forum I would say with confidence that your FT4 is over range.

If you have been taking T3 this tends to lower, even suppress, TSH and usually tends to lower FT4 as well so to have an over range FT4 whilst taking T3 is unusual.

What Levo and T3 are you taking?

When did you take the last dose of each before the test?

Thank you for your replyCurrently taking 250 mcg Levo for yrs now and started T3 on 25 mcg for 2 mths , More going on re high crp and suspected RA etc but requested blood test results as not confident in Doc.. Feel much better since T3 intake though.

So when did you take your last doses before the test?

As you are taking T3 then you absolutely must test FT3 when also testing TSH and FT4. Unlikely that your GP will do this so you will need to do it privately. MonitorMyHealth is an NHS lab which offers this basic test to the general public for £26.10 with code here:

Did you start on 25mcg T3?

Please post reference range for results, particularly FT4.

Thank youI will post results once Doc sends them as only requested today.. Started on 25 mcg T3 and felt fine. More worried as previous CRP levels private test done were so high. Doc just sends a you are too high re t4 reduce by 25 mcg and all other results fine... Dont believe that for a min..

Will order the Ft3 private test asap

Don't do FT3 test on it's own, it must be done with TSH and FT4, that test I mentioned does all three.

thanks . I have already had a full premium gold blood test through Blue horizon two months ago showing really high tsh and very low ft3 plus sky high CRP levels plus have hashimotos anyway . See previous post.. but i just think that once i get my results back from doc i can post it to you guys for advice...Again i feel better now on T3 and just wanted to know if having a low tsh (0)and a ft4 of 27 is ok for now?

Took last t4 and t3 24 hrs before test

Time gaps for last dose of thyroid meds are:

Levo - 24 hours

T3 - 8-12 hours

Any longer you get false low results, too close and you get false high results.

When doing next test, split T3 into 2 or 3 doses the day before and take the last dose 8-12 hours before your test.

Last levothyroxine dose 24 hours before test

Day before blood test you should split T3 dose into 3 smaller doses

Take 1/2 tablet 7am, 1/4 tablet at 2pm and 1/4 tablet at 9pm

Do blood test 9am following morning

Essential to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least annually. What vitamin supplements are you currently taking.

Hi I'm taking b12 and b complex folate magnesium but d and selenium . As previous private blood test showed deficiency in these plus ft3 was 3.1 t4 20 and tsh was 11 . Now tsh 0 and t4 is 27 . I feel fine so just wanted to know if I should reduce levo. Don't have updated ft3 as nhs test didn't include

If you are not converting to T3 properly and you feel better on T3 that would make sense of your results - is that what you understand? Have you been on Levo long?

Hi . You are right I was not converting properly,

Have been on Levo for over 10 yrs(Hashimotos) only until very recently started T3.

Feel much better but Dr recent blood test showed low tsh and high T4 27 so was told to reduce Levo by 25mcg as advised .. but my concern is that my T4 should have reduced not got higher ? Hoping that reducing levo will help and balance it out

There may be no point taking Levo you can't use. I wouldn't have thought it would get any lower because you are still taking it - but I'm no expert.

thanks . will stick to levo at 25 mcgs less ie 225 instead of 250and t3 25 mcgs and see if ft4 comes down slighty.. My b12 is sky high as been si and test wont be accurate but again feeling so much better since starting
