siskin What thyroid meds are you currently taking?
100 mcg thyroxine and I feel dreadful. I note T3 only 0.2 in range.
siskin You need the addition of T3 to your Levo. You're obviously not converting T4 to T3 and with your FT4 over range it's making rT3 instead of FT3.
You might want to research rT3. Here's some links I found when I was looking into it
stopthethyroidmadness.com/r...
misslizzy.me/when-normal-th...
rt3-adrenals.org/reverse_t3...
and there are probably lots more.
I'm not medically trained but I think you should be looking into reducing your Levo and adding T3. Check the links to see how rT3 is addressed. Yours is extremely high, but other illnesses can cause high rT3 as well.
I have real doubts as to whether any NHS endo (or a private one who also works for the NHS) has any knowledge of rT3.

There's nothing really wrong with your vitamins and minerals, although I personally keep mine at around 1000 as research has shown that for brain and nervous system health and prevention of disease in older adults, serum B12 levels should be maintained near or above 1000 pg/ml.
Sorry to take so long to reply computer is old and delapidated like me. My GP admits no knowledge and endo is an idiot. Thank you for all the info it is great.
I have had RA for 23 yrs and bronchiectasis so I can see how that can add to the problem
Siskin - I too have bronchiectasis (and colonised pseudomonas) and recently had a 3-4 month period where it felt like I had a lung infection but couldn't get a sample so doctor wouldn't prescribe anything, just left to get on with it. I had a repeat rT3 test in June (whilst I had this lung infection) and my level had gone from 22 in January to 29 in June so I do think that other illnesses do play a role in rT3. Certainly no longer my FT4 causing it as that was only 35% in range.
Would agree with SeasideSusie you need less T4 and addition of T3. Any chance endo prescribing T3, even if private prescription this gives options on French or German T3
Although your antibodies here are negative, have they ever been positive?
Have you tried gluten free diet?
What supplements do you take?
Thanks slow dragon, antibodies not positive, not on gluten free I don't know I could manage that seem to need my bread porridge etc. I am 79 now and house bound after a compression spinal fracture last December and cannot stand and cook as I used to, so it is Waitrose deliver now.
Take multi Vits & minerals and Zinc, blood test showed deficient.
I have asked 4 pharmacists in this area if they have ever had T3 scripts come in if so where from, all were helpful but none had any.
All the endos in my area are interested in is diabetes and even gender re-assignment. On the hospital profiles they often don't mention thyroid disorders , or if they do it seems to be an afterthought.
