Help Test Results on Forefront Glandular

Hello to you fine people and Oh dear me ...

My results are back from Medichecks they are terrible don't know what to think except that Forefront seems completely useless I took Forefront for nearly 6 weeks and the same dose of 2X130mg plus 1X65mg for nearly 5 weeks. The day before testing I took one Forefront dose of 130mg 8 am in the morning and another one 130mg at 2 pm and the last one 65mg at 10pm I tested around 9.30 in the morning after around 11.5 hours after my last dose I also stopped vitamins B complex 10 days beforehand and tested before breakfast. So

TSH=27.1 mlU/L Range (0.27- 4.2)

T3 =1.4 pmol/L Range (3.1- 6.8)

T4 =3.0 pmol/L Range (12- 22)

Never had such a bad results not even before being diagnosed I take vitamins B complex supplements (which I stopped 10 days beforehand) with folate and vitamin D 2000 plus Selenium 200 mcgr and Magnesium every each other day also calcium every each other days did not take those 2 for 3 days before testing and I always take calcium 4 hours away from Thyroid supplements.

I was feeling pretty low depressed sleepy and unable to concentrate which I thought was fibromyalgia and end of winter. I also put on weight around 10 pounds while not changing my diet but was craving carbs.

{I took before that 3 Metavive II for 5 weeks but it seems my immune system reacted to the nucleotides and while my numbers were OK ... ish I developed thyroiditis which stopped nearly as soon as I stopped Metavive (porcine)

TSH: 0.01 miu/L (0.35—3.5)

T3: 5.3 pmol/L (3.8—6)

T4: 11.8 pmol/L (7.5—21.1)}

Any comments advice welcome.

Thank you.

Oh dear me indeed !Don't know what's supposed to be in Forefront-glandular , (never heard of it on here) . But it's pretty apparent what it DOESN'T contain ... any thyroid hormones.

The product has been mentioned a couple of times. Starsw is the first definitive post showing that it seems to be worse than useless.

Debber67 67 posted a few months back and Susieg1 replied:

Thank you hevella

I will post a reply to Debber67 for information would be curious to know how Susieg1 is doing with her experiment even if using 60 mg Armour.

In a way i am glad (that's a big word lol) I have tried long enough on Forefront to get an objective test result.

......I notice you used to take Thyroid S quite happily , I have read some recent comments on here saying it is slowly starting to become available again. You could ask for a PM from anyone who knows.

Hi thank you so much tattybogle for your reply.

Yes Thyroid S is again accessible I had been trying to find an alternative as both myself and my daughter have been taking Thyroid S for a few years without problems but then it was out of stock for at least a year then it became so expensive.

My daughter developed Grave disease age 11 and after years trying to be stable on Carbimazole but having developed an obstructive goitre plus a very vascular thyroid she had a near total thyroidectomy at age 17. (she is 29 now and like me done very badly on Levothyroxine for years)

Anyway i was hoping to find an alternative to give her the Thyroid S I had left. I have now just managed to secure some Thyroid S (thanks to some lovely people on this forum) and the obvious choice is to get back to it and feel normal again.

I hope Thyroid S will continue to be available as we badly need it.

I have to stop experimenting all together at least people on this forum who wanted to know about Forefront will have a fair idea that they should keep away from it, I kept going as I wanted to have test results after a reasonable amount of time in the name of objectivity I suppose... I felt low but the test result completely threw me but also explain most of my last few weeks struggle. It is so difficult with thyroid as I feel we go down very very slowly and symptoms are very insidious, because I have fibromyalgia I thought I had a flare up lol.

I think because I am so depleted I will have to build up on Thyroid S not too quickly.

Now I plan to build up on Thyroid S I used to take around 2.5 grain a day so will start with 1 for a week then 1.5 for 10 days then take 2 for 4/5 weeks then test again then will add another 1/2 grain if i need to.

I would be about time for the NHS to look after us decently and let us have NDT on prescription it is shameful in a modern and rich country like the UK that we have to play Guinea pig because NICE has decided to keep ignoring us.

Never mind just another glitch in my thyroid Saga...

Thank you 🙂

On behalf of everybody .... thank you for using yourself so diligently as a guinea pig :) and staying on it long enough to get proper bloods done.

Hope you get back to feeling 'you' soon.

And yes...... it's a bloody disgrace.

So sorry to hear about what has happened to you. Yes the NHS is an absolue disgrace where proper treatment of hypothyroidism is concerned. Am so sorry that you and your daughter have been put in this position. I am not into suing but frankly its so bad now I do wish someone would.......as maybe then they would sit up and listen!! Am glad you have sourced some thyroid s hope you and your daughter feel much better soon. Take care. x

The trouble with suing is, it costs money and you’ll get nowhere- as a friend of mine says (excuse the language) they all piss in the same pot and no matter what, they all stick up for one another ☹️

Starsw profile image
Starsw in reply toGingernut44

Yes unfortunately you are right as I said if I ever have a big pack of money the best way would be to finance NDT clinical trial and prove that people who do not do well on Levo do well on NDT. :)

Starsw in reply towaveylines

Thank you so much waveylines if I could afford it I would actually like to sue as it maybe the only way they would listen I will put it on my list of the things to do if I win the jackpot 🙃 will ask people on the forum to become part of the "anecdotal evidence" Maybe instead I should put the money into financing a proper clinical trial...xx :)

Hi Starsw, I was wondering how you were getting on with Forefront. Their website makes out that it's amazing. Obviously it's not.

Your TSH of 27 is interesting. I was on new Metavive (didn't suit me), then switched to Tru-Thyroid for about 5 weeks before testing levels. That came up with TSH 29. I wonder if it takes ages for the effects of Metavive to reduce.

I've since had about 3 months on Erfa (correction, not Teva) (TSH gone down to 3.76 so improving). I've now just started on Armour - wait and see.

Starsw profile image
Starsw in reply toAnthea55

Hi Anthea yes I have heard similar reports from people on the forum who bought TRU thyroid and done very badly with it, with similar numbers. I think it takes around 4 weeks for the body to become depleted of thyroid Hormones especially T4, T3 goes down much quicker but then even for the bad converter there is always a bit of T4 that are converted into T3 then one start to go down hill I think it takes between 6 to 8 weeks to get really ill obviously with my Forefront experiment I can see that my Thyroid has become completely unable to produce the hormones I need. (if I needed any confirmation I have it lol)Teva is a synthetic isn't it? Armour is very similar to Thyroid S but more expensive do you have it on subscription or buy it privately?

Take care. :)

Anthea55 profile image
Anthea55 in reply toStarsw

Just edited that - I took Erfa, not Teva - error in the proof reading!

After experiences with Metavive and Tru-Thyroid and knowing how few products are available at present, I decided to give up trying to get prescription free products, so now registered with a doctor from the ThyroidUK list. Started with Erfa as I remembered that I had taken it before - about 5 or 6 years ago. Then found a previous list of my thyroid experiences where I see that when I gave up Erfa and changed to Nature Throid some of my symptoms improved - I no longer had 'heavy legs'. Maybe I don't get on too well with the maize in Erfa.

So just changing to Armour to see how it works for me. I'm buying privately using the ThyroidUK list of pharmacies. Yes, Armour costs an arm and a leg and the prices quoted are variable. Then some insist on taking my prescription exactly as written - prescription says 1.5 grains a day, so they quote me for 1.5grain tablets, when I want 1 grain tablets as I split my dose. 1 grain tablets are the cheapest per grain; the other sizes are all much more expensive per grain. Fingers crossed - see how it goes.

Hope you find something that works for you.

Starsw,

Sorry to hear about your experience.

“I took before that 3 Metavive II for 5 weeks but it seems my immune system reacted to the nucleotides and while my numbers were OK ... ish I developed thyroiditis“

Can you please expand on what happened when you were on Metavive? What do you mean by developing thyroiditis and that your immune system reacted? What symptoms did you have?

The other thing I read on Forefront’s FAQs was that they recommend taking Levo or NDT with some of their product on top. 🤔

Starsw profile image
Starsw in reply toSerendipitious

Hi Serendipitious

This is a link if you want to read about various supplements effect on the immune system the last bit is about Nucleotides that enhanced the production of Th1 cytokines and L2 the same cells are usually involved in the attack of the thyroid gland in people with Hashimoto .

jlb.onlinelibrary.wiley.com...

and this is the links to my post about my experience with Metavive posted some time ago it is part of another conversation so will not expand here.

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu......

As for the FAQ on the Forefront site ofc I have read it I would not really spend £100 on a product without searching it but my thought was that as usual because they sell their product as supplements they will make sure to cover their tracks and not be accountable as they all do including Metavive that recommend to take only one capsule a day the reason why they have various capsules strength defeat the purpose of their recommendations...

So Forefront is beyond accountability for 2 reasons if I complain that their products do not contain any Hormones they can say "but we say that you should keep taking your thyroid medications" if any medical body says or but you can sell this as a therapy they will say or but it is not a therapy it is only a supplement, what they should say in all honesty is: this is only a placebo and do not expect any effect from it, so to be fair why would they have a program for it and advice to split the doses as if it would bring any real support to one's thyroid condition! They should advertise it as hormones free product. It is because of all that I thought it was the usual we sell this as a supplement but it has some active ingredients but we cannot say it because we cannot sell it as a medication.

Thinking more about it the fact that everyone seems to get their thyroid from cattle in New Zealand is indeed a bit suspicious there is some limitation on how many cattle Thyroids New Zealand can produce... so they are all there to make money out of the thyroid patients that do not get any real alternative treatment for their condition.

Now you can if you want experiment on it and post about you own experience I am sure some people on this forum will find that very useful I can even send you the rest of mine free of charge. 😅

All the best.

🙂

Forefront does indeed seem useless what a shame . It isn’t as good as thyrogold glandular which isn’t available now and it must be made . It’s terrible that there’s a shortage of NDT .

Others have had similar results to you then by looks of it . Hope you start to feel better soon the thyroid s should sort things out 😊

Thank you so much Blackpanther46 yes I have restarted Thyroid S and hopefully should be back to my "normal" self after a few weeks to be fair I can't wait to become a functioning human being again lol 😊
