Monitor my health test results

I would apreciate it if somebody would give me some help with my test results from the above company. I asked for the full Thyroid tests.

This was their advice:-

Your results suggest you have a form of underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism)

TSH level 3.88

TSH levels normal

normal range 0.27 - 4.2 mU/L

FT4 Your result is 2.8 pmol/L

FT4 levels low

normal range 0.27 - 4.2 mU/L

FT3 Level Your result is 1.6 pmol/L

FT3 levels low

(normal range 3.1 - 6.8 pmol/L)

I am currently taking Metavive IV Bovine Thyroid Complex 80mg at a dose of two tablets daily

Can you clarify this please:

FT4 Your result is 2.8 pmol/L

FT4 levels low

normal range 0.27 - 4.2 mU/L

You have put the TSH range here, the FT4 range is 12-22. So is the FT4 level really 2.8 (12-22)?

If the FT4 is correct, plus the below range FT3 and high in range TSH, I would say that Metative is doing nothing for you. It does seem to work for some people but not everyone.

When did you change to Metavive? What were you taking before and was it giving you reasonable results and no symptoms of hypothyroidism?

The FT3 and FT4 are correct.

I have been taking metavive for sometime now, I assumed that it was working because doctor kept telling me my tsh was too high when they tested me. I have had a lot of trouble with thyroxine as I kept getting migraines every brand that I tried which included the liquid one.

I assume you took your dose of Metavive the day or evening before the test? If so it really does look like it doesn't work for you.

How do you actually feel? I expect with those results you're feeling pretty rubbish.

"I assumed that it was working because doctor kept telling me my tsh was too high when they tested me."

if TSH is high then that means it's not working ...

lower T4/ T3 (hypothyroid) leads to higher TSH .

Higher T4/T3 levels leads to lower TSH.

You need to get vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels tested too

If you are really as hypothyroid as these results suggest, vitamin levels likely very low too

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

A vitamin b complex with vitamin c timed release

I took it the day before. I am very tired and cold. I wondered if the metavive isnt as strong in the winter because of the different feed the cows are on, probably clutching at straws I did wonder about long covid as well. Can you give me any advise other than taking Thyroxine?

You could try increasing Metavive

Or try levothyroxine …..plus adding small doses of T3 if Ft3 remains low once on high enough dose levothyroxine, all four vitamins at OPTIMAL levels and may need gluten free/dairy free diet

How much levothyroxine were you previously taking

What were thyroid results on levothyroxine

What vitamin supplements are you taking

I have a lot of intolerances so I am Gluten and dairy free already, I do think that I need to take more vitamins, the vitamin b complex is just a very recent addition which I didn`t take a couple of weeks before my bloodtest

How long since you tested vitamin levels

Generally we advise to test folate, ferritin and B12 at least annually

Test vitamin D twice year

I was originally on 200 mcg levothyroxine, they have gradually reduced my dose to 100 mcg, after me complaining it has been updated to 125 mcg. They have constantly refused to give me my results, so because the levo was giving me migraines and I was also fed up fighting them I decided to use metavive instead. This test was to give me a baseline to work from

You’re legally entitled to your own blood test results and ranges

Put a request in in writing for all your blood test results

I would question MMH over these results

Ft4 seems exceptionally low

Similar to another post this morning discussing abnormal results via MMH

I have questioned MMH on my results, just waiting for a reply from them

I find this interesting, because, my Thyroid test results were not what I was expecting them to be; not absurdly high or anything like that, just looked higher than what I was expecting. Take this with a pinch of salt though - I haven't had an early morning thyroid finger prick test done in 2-3 years, so could be nothing. I hope they are not making errors though because I can't afford to test very often.

Hi, I got this reply from MMH

I got the same too, my FT3 and FT4 are below range with Tsh of 3.4 and I take T3. Thought it would explain why I felt lousy too till I got the second email. We must wait and see x

2 capsules of the bovine metavive is a v low dose. I take 2 in the morning (together with 1 porcine metavive ) and I take 2 in the evening. This is enough for me but it’s more than double what you are taking.

Like SD said you could try adding another metavive and see how you feel. If no change after a month I would add another one. Then see how you feel and test 6 weeks after your last dose change.

Good luck. Your results would suggest you must be feeling awful, lethargy , brain fog, cold etc. Hope you can improve your symptoms.
