Levothyroxine and blood test debarcle AGAIN!!

Had my hysteroscopy and biopsy today but prior to it I had a conversation with both the anaesthetist and the surgeon regarding them stopping my levo for 2 days before the operation as my TSH was 0.01 and T4 over range( T3 not tested as no clinical validity ). They disputed the biotin and said that if they feel that is the case they will use a different assay for testing and said they suspected I may have thyrotoxicosis and suggested not to take levo for a few more says as " levels won't drop dramatically in a few more days and get a blood test done at GP surgery on Monday. Firstly the NHS are not going to more testing than they need to fuel to cost, secondly the GP surgery are not going to do tests when they're due to be done on 24th February and thirdly it seems that all doctors are brainwashed into believing that TSH and T4 are the ONLY tests necessary to get an accurate picture of thyroid function.

I refuse to stop taking my levo at 100mcg which have been taking since start of November and am going to continue and stop my vit b complex 7 days before the test on 24th. They also stopped me taking my selenium and ashwagandha (I've reduced dose to 1200mg from 1600mg as feel that is sufficient) and guess what my stress levels have gone way up again, so intend to carry on as before and they only stopped me taking those as couldn't guarantee they didn't have blood thinning properties.

I spent 13 1/2 hours in total in hospital today had very little to eat or drink and saw someone regarding my mental health as broke down this afternoon. I'm physically and mentally drained as well as incredibly frustrated by the whole experience.

Sorry for long post but needed to get it off my chest.

Recommend you get your own full TSH, Ft4 and Ft3 test done via Monitor My Health at same time of day before

I agree, but it would appear they are not paying much attention to any private blood tests as I think they don't trust the labs who do the testing and I don't want to waste money if they're just going to ignore them or say the results are not valid. I do trust Monitor my Health but I'm really unsure what to do as my anxiety has got worse again over the last couple of weeks and my mind is all over the place.

I think you will find that a hospital request for pre op bloods will be no problem at the GP surgery. It’s perfectly standard. Did they give you the lab request to take with you? My last was posted to me to take to GP , previously the hospital had sent a request to my GP, so just a change in procedures there. My last stay I handed in prescription drugs before surgery and kept NDT in my personal stuff. Clear as day in a self seal poly bag and no one questioned it.

I think a MMH test within 24 hours as suggested by SlowDragon will give you a clear picture. Good luck.
