When to do blood test

I did a private at home thyroid blood test from Medichecks. I did it in the morning before tsking my Levo, the Ztsh Came back 3.94. GP would not accept it, so had s NHS blood test done at 4.25 in the afternoon after taking my Levo in the morning. My TSH was 5.04.

Could this be the difference in results as to when and how I did tests ?

Den53, How long was the time span between the Medichecks and NHS tests?

TSH is highest early in the morning and lowest in the afternoon/evening. Have a look at the graph in this link healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Clutter, there was one difference between the tests.

'One week'. Difference between tests, that should read.

Den, if the NHS test had been in the morning before Levothyroxine TSH would have been higher.

Make sure you have a thyroid test 6-8 weeks after you increased to 125mcg. You may need a further increase. Most people are comfortable with TSH just above or below 1.0.

So, following on from Clutter's post, if you'd had your NHS test taken in the morning, it would have been higher than 5.04 - it might have been 6 ish. Taking your Levo probably didn't make much difference to the TSH reading - that would've shown up in the FT4 result if it has been done (which I guess it wasn't).

Either way, you would appear to need an increase in Levo.

Yes jazzy, I have upped my Levo from 100 mcg to 125 mcg. Am on day 6 but still feel rubbish and depressed.

I am due to go on a little holiday at the end of next week, which me and hubby desperately need, but was hoping I would feel better than this by then.

Den, it takes 7-8 days for the dose increase to kick in. It should be working by the time you go on hols.

I do hope so, clutter.

My energy just seems to disappear and I get panicky. Like this morning I gathered my energy to have a shower and then can just about finish drying myself, have to lay on bed to regain energy before drying my hair. Is this normal ?

I should also mention that I had my thyroid removed 10 years ago.

Should the 100 mcg thyroxine and the 25 mcg tablets be the same brand. Just been reading on another forum, they should be the same brand and not mixed.
