Vit B complex and palpitations - trialling T3

Morning everyone, hope you’re all coping in these difficult times ? Hoping you can help.

Was on 125 mg and given T3 20 mg to add with no reduction of Levo because of low conversion

Started slowly now on

Levo 100 mg and T3 10 mg ( get a lot of palpitations on higher doses but maybe the Vit B? )

Vits : Vit D better you with K2 everyday

Vit B complex

Vit C

Zinc

As per previous posts you know I’m trialing T3 combined With Levo. Have now managed to get up T3 10 mg split twice a day and Levo now down to 100 mg per day. I have struggled to go any higher of T3. Since Monday have stopped taking B complex as due for blood test next week, since then have found am not getting all day palpitations and shortness of breath that I was getting ? Could it be the B complex making it worse ? Still have the feeling of anxiety, and occasional palpitations, and I know B complex can cause these problems. Should I stay off them for awhile?

In general a lot of things have been better, Since taking T3 have noticed acid reflux has been a lot better , I have nails! After years of hardly any growth and thin, splitting nails.

The only other problem I’m having is extreme tiredness, and muscle ache, mornings are hard to get going, heavy foggy brain, plus back to dropping to sleep in the afternoon and evenings, even though I try not too but it just happens and can’t remember doing so. Maybe under medicated?

Sorry for the long post, I just know after the bloods next week I will have to be ready with questions and answers for the doctor. It’s taken me two years to get the T3 and I’m not ready to give it up yet ! It’s only been learning as much as possible on here etc that I have had enough knowledge to push the doctor and Endo into trialing me.

Will post results when I get them having TSH, T4, T3, antibodies and vitamins done hopefully, as long as the lab doesn’t ignore the doctors request again!

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

If/when also on T3, make sure to take last third or half of daily dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time of last dose...or splitting of dose day before test

Hi SlowDragon

thanks for the reminder, but have always done this, lived in France for 28 years and was always told to do bloods like it 😎. Shame Uk doesn’t understand it 🤣

Don't forget to stop the B complex a week before the blood draw, so that the biotin doesn't skew the results.

Palpitations and anxiety can be symptoms of under-medication, as well as over-medication.

You said:

Was on 125 mg and given T3 20 mg to add with no reduction of Levo because of low conversion

But, then you say:

Started slowly now on

Levo 100 mg and T3 10 mg

So, why did you decide to reduce the levo after all? What was your FT4 before you started T3?

Ft4 was 26.6 with T3 at 4.5 TSH at 0.1

Always best to put ranges when quoting blood test results, because they vary from lab to lab. But, I should imagine that your FT4 was over-range. So, why didn't your reduce it at the same time as you started T3?

I did the first week i started on 5 mg T3 and knocked my T4 down by 70mg over the week so T4 was at 115 mg a day.

When got my T 3 up to 10 mg with T4 as above starting getting a lot of palpitations felt very over medicated so dropped T4 to 100 mg per day. And have kept at that since just coming up 6 weeks on that amount

Yes T4 was over range

Hi there yes the B complex could be too much now - your kidneys/adrenals will over stimulated might be an idea to stop them now - if you are getting the thyroid hormone you need your adrenals will not be under so much pressure supplying the energy you needed- as it will now be getting that energy from the hormone you are taking. Hope that makes sense?
