Could someone please tell me what they think...

I have had problems with thyroid since giving birh to my 2nd child in Feb.

This is my most recent bloods

t4 18.2 (12.00 - 22)

t3 6.5 (3.1 - 6.8)

tsh 0.05 (0.27 - 4)

All types of thyroid antibodies have now been tested and they are all negative.

I have had an ultrasound of my thyroid and i do have a goiter with some small nodules in it but nothing sinister was what they said.

Endo has now diagnosised toxic nodule i have went from postpartum thyroiditis to possible graves disease to this.

i have now been put on 5mg carbi but they are talking about radioactive iodine and possible surgery. Anyone else have this type of condition and what treatment were you given. thanks

I’m afraid I can’t help much with the treatment they are offering but your blood results are very similar to mine although my t3 is lower. I started having problems with thyroid after my first child, I now have two and haven’t been well since.

I am self medicating with 20 mcg liothyronine a day and 100 mcg levo. Not much improvement and have an appointment to see an endo on Tuesday after 3 years of trying to find a solution.

Can I ask what your main symptoms are please?

thanks for your reply.

I did have this after my first child as well but it resolved after 6mths.

my t3 was lower but has now started to creep up.

sorry that you are also feeling like this.

without question my main symptom is anxiety, i have had anxiety for over 10yrs and this has made it so much worse. Im so focused now as well on everything my heart is doing palpitations etc so its making me worse 😢

Oh anxiety is awful. Completely different to me, I have extreme fatigue, joint pain, brain fog all the symptoms of hypothyroidism.

My antibodies are in the 1000’s but not sure what that means.

What is the drug you've been started on? I really hope you find some relief.

They have started me on carbimozole. i am taking it for 6 weeks just now to see if my bloods improve any.

thank you ❤

Have you had vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested?

Ask GP to test

yes. all in normal range.

Are they optimal, rather than just within range

Vitamin D, at least around 80nmol

B12 over 500

Folate and Ferritin at least half way in range

R you o resist neg?

In my very humble opinion (because it is only logical) remember that you are going to be jiggling around with a medication (eg Levo) if you have destruction of your thyroid via radiation. You are, at the moment, jiggling around with Carbi. My advice would be to keep the devil you know, i.e. keep jiggling the Carbi. Both is for the rest of your life, neither is easier than the other.
